  1. We've won a league, 2 cups and been to the UEFA Cup Final - if this team can't believe in themselves, then there is massive motivation issues with the senior members of the squad.
  2. We're only left really with Tav, Goldson, Barisic and Jack and that has been the backbone of our team since 2018. What have we won in that time 1 league, 1 league cup and 1 Scottish cup. Not a great return, especially when for most of those seasons we seem to be in with a good shout then we shit the bed when it counts.
  3. I remember reading that in the match programme and thinking, that should have been done for as Captain. For him to verbalize that was poor, just seeps into the rest of the team, and when you consider we still have 3 of the back 4 from that time still regular starters, it shows that fundamentally we haven't been able to sort this. At some point, you need a clear out. He has given us some great moments, especially in Europe, and his goals have kept us going, but we have won far too little, and we need that change at some point.
  4. Poor result, totally hands the initiative over to them.
  5. There's two sides to every deal. Maybe we've had next to no decent offers for them. Tav's offensive abilities do not outweigh his defensive howlers, and teams that would pay money that I think we'd want for him, would not go for it. Tav's got by for us for so long because of what he offers us in Europe, not smashing in penalties against St. Mirren and Killie.
  6. Glasgow offered not very much in that game. The whole game other than the wobble for their goal we were in total control. Now comes very much down to who can hold their nerve and that game against them on the 6th May.
  7. The SWPL the past three seasons has been absolutely relentless, any dropped points has potentially a big impact on the league, especially with three teams competing for the title. Injuries hasn't helped us, with Martinez out for so long, and Colson leaving halfway through. I think that's significantly reduced our options in center-mid. I have faith in the manager, as Bydo says, we have only lost one game this season and already won a cup, I just hope we can gain a bit of momentum, next game is massive vs. Glasgow City.
  8. The difference is, the supporters who have bought tickets in the Broomloan may have done so since they now got access to an OF ticket, one of the main advantages of taking a season ticket. Also, with fans being moved from Copland Front to accommodate the Union Bears, could end up in a situation where fans lose out massively with this.
  9. Lee McCulloch basically played everywhere for us.
  10. Yes they are - Keep the Champions League exclusive to champions of their respective league championships. That would lead to smaller team in the competition over larger, more attractive to the world wide audience teams.
  11. That's basically what people are saying though, random winners of random leagues getting a place in the tournament, ahead of the best teams for the best leagues, that draw in the biggest viewing audiences.
  12. Amazing the amount of people on this topic bemoaning "the big teams" rigging the system, so they directly benefit. We've done that in Scottish Football for years - so I don't see what the problem is. This is a global game, wanting to grow into emerging markets where they are either used to closed shop sports (i.e. America), or just want to see the best (Middle East and Asia). The pull of a Leipzig vs. Newcastle is sadly greater than say Grasshoppers vs. Rangers. That's the world we live in, and if it was up to us, we'd want to be in that closed shop - but we're not. We're in a diddy league playing diddy opposition week in week out.
  13. Great to have her back - a proven goalscorer.
  14. That went great with JJB and Sports Direct etc....
  15. Man's just inside the door and getting to work out the players he can trust and he has to put up with nonsense like this. Unbeaten in his first three games which includes a Euro away trip, and two games against the Edinburgh teams, with only one goal conceded. Pretty good start from a manager having to come into a team with confidence that was clearly below par.
  16. Yeah, we were by far the better side for the majority of the game.
  17. Every new manager appointment is a risk. Almost every manager we appoint, no matter their record is a "project appointment" with the level of player we have. No easy first preference out there, not too many with consistent records of success. It's going to be a tough one for us.
  18. I hate the chat of "do they get paid for this" etc. Women's football in Scotland has only been professional for 2 years. Men's football has been professional for something along the lines of 140 years. So, it's no wonder the standard is going to be low. I wonder what the relative standards of football was back in the day, I bet it was shit.
  19. My concern is that we're building our team around the wrong players. Love their commitment but Howat, Doherty and Hill for me are not moving us up. I know that may be an unpopular opinion with most. We've struggled to replace a few players from 2 years ago, Westrup was so commanding at CB, that her presence is sorely missed, and Reilly really was instrumental in dominating the midfield.
  20. Absolute shocker extending Fife's contract, unless there really isn't an alternative anywhere to be found.
  21. Absolute nonsense letting them score unopposed. They had the ball from the throw-in, their defender had the ball unopposed when thrown back in, he's f*cked it up by taking a horrendous first touch, the game is back on and Tillman has done the right thing by closing him down. Seen the usual "class but expected" shite, and it's just embarrassing.
  22. Was a good match, game put beyond Motherwell early doors in the second half. I liked how we didn't let up and just kept at it. Seeing Carla Boyce and Chelsie Watson in the Motherwell team shows that it was the right choice to have that complete clear-out when we went pro.
  23. One of the main reasons that short corners are so popular, since the conversion direct from corners is so small, that even creating a better angle and causing the defence to move out to create space. Throwing it "in the mixer" is last gasp, we got no other options. I remember reading as well that Guardiola used to fine Barca players if they hit a shit from outside the 18yard box for the same reasons that statistically scoring from outside the box is far far lower than from scoring inside. Could be pish though
  24. Historic times to be living, and for the rest of our lifetime we will never seen another Queen reign. I will be going with my 7 year old daughter to sign the book of condolence tonight at Glasgow City chambers. She may have lived a privileged life but almost entirely in service of the country. She did so with utter devotion, dignity and grace, that I feel it important to write a few words of thanks. Without widening the conversation out too much, the past few days it has shown for me the importance of having a Constitutional Monarch as part of a thriving democracy, and the importance of the conventions of state, behaviour and governance which makes the UK arguable the most successful and stable countries in modern times.
