TexasGers 96
It would be awesome to see him find his international form, he clearly has some abilityWalter will just have to convince him that St. Mirren and Motherwell are Spain and England
Big Laff's Dodgy Barnett 20
Rangers' travails in the transfer market reached some kind of conclusion last night with the signing, on loan, of David Healy, the 31-year-old Northern Ireland striker. Healy, the leading scorer in his country's history with 35 in his 84 games, will remain at Ibrox until the end of the season. He is not the name that Rangers fans would have been hoping for. Nor, indeed, is he the man that Walter Smith had anywhere near the top of his wish-list, but he is as good as they are going to get considering their powder-puff clout in the transfer ADVERTISEMENTmarket. Healy is a Sunderland player but he is so far out of the picture at the Stadium of Light that this is his third loan spell away from the place. He spent a period at Ipswich and has been playing for Doncaster of late. He has scored five times in two years, a statistic that will do nothing to ease the concerns of Rangers people in this critical stage of the season.Healy's career has been a strange one. He became an icon in his homeland when he scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over England in World Cup qualifier in September 2005 and became something of a God when he carried on banging in the goals for his country in the subsequent European championship qualifiers. He scored a hat-trick in a storied 3-3 draw with Spain in September 2006 and finished that qualification series with 13 goals, an all-time record.Once - but no longer - consistent for Northern Ireland he has not measured up as a club player, be it in the Premiership with Fulham and Sunderland, or on loan in the lower leagues. His contract at Sunderland expires in the summer and the hope, for Rangers fans, is that the approaching uncertainty in his professional life is going to galvanise him into rediscovering some past glory. Blind faith, it would seem, is the only option as far as the Ibrox faitful are concerned. Not that they needed any reminding, but they are shopping in the bargain basement this transfer window.http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/football/Rangers-sign-David-Healy-on.6706236.jp

AyeReadyStu 70
Great for David that he has fulfilled his dream of playing for us, and I hope he does well here, but I can't help but feel disappointed with this signing. Really shows a lack of ambition in terms of our signing targets.

docspiderman 1,225
Joining James Beattie as a player hoping to resurrect his career.Would have preferred a player who can do the business on the pitch instead of another gamble.Next news will be Mark Hately signing in time for the Celtic game.
