Broxi 11,443
Rangers forward Kyle Lafferty will miss the start of the season because of a groin problem.Lafferty missed Saturday's 3-0 friendly defeat by Bochum and will return from the pre-season German tour to have his injury assessed by a specialist.Manager Ally McCoist said: "The doctor and the physios had a look at him and they decided that it was a niggle that wasn't going to clear up over here."We will know better when we get back, but it is a little concerning."Northern Ireland international Lafferty was a regular scorer towards the end of last season and bagged a hat-trick in Rangers' Scottish Premier League title-winning match."It's a big disappointment for him and it's a big disappointment for us, because he and Nikica Jelavic finished the season so well and we were hopeful they would start the season in fine form," McCoist told the Rangers website."However, that does not look like being the case with Kyle having this niggle."Three second-half goals gave Bochum victory over McCoist's men, who also lost to Sportfreunde Lotte on Thursday.Defender Madjid Bougherra has yet to feature on the tour but may return against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday.Lafferty scored 15 goals for Rangers last seasonThe Algerian has been linked with a move away from Ibrox as he is entering the final year of his contract."We have not had an offer for him," added McCoist."He is a Rangers player and the one thing about Madjid is that he gives his all in every game he plays and I have no doubts that he will do that again."We are looking to strengthen a few areas and the defence is one of them."We definitely need to get one or two fresh faces in to help the lads and we will do that." SirWalterSmithLegend 206
Injured or not, we still need another striker brought to the club, better than what is already here.Anyway, get well soon Kyle. Keep the head up big man.
the brown brogue 1,853
The last line worries me, we've gone from needing 5 or 6 new players to 1 or 2 in the space of a couple of weeks... and this injury has just made our threadbare squad even more threadbare. Amac9 2,060
Typical Lafferty. Just when he starts doing well he gets injured and has to start again. That is one player less and we need at least 5 in.

mark_ni 12
just shows how crucial it is we get players in. We may have a first 11 strong enough to win the spl but we have very little strength in depth. We definetly could have done without this, wanted to see if lafferty was going to finally carry his end of season form over into the new season. Amac9 2,060
What if Jelavic picks up a knock in pre season and he misses a few games? Our squad is extremely small and we really need to get players in!

Muff 245
Another injury for Kyle Lafferty, now there is a surprise. He seem's to spend a lot of time out injured. What is it with The Rangers and injuries? It's pre-season and our bare squad already has a few knocks. The season starts in two weeks, Champions League qualifiers just after that, and we need a number of quality players. We must get in a striker, because we cannot rely on Kyle Lafferty and David Healy should Nikica Jelavic pick up a knock/off form...There is still plenty time, but we must speed things up in the transfer market! DavieMacRFC 850
Never thought i would say this but this could be terrible news, the way the Big Ulster Man linked up with Jelavic in the title rum in was great, he absolutely killed Killie in the final day and i was looking forward to him carrying on this form to the coming season, get fit soon big man !!!
