Big Sam lines up Laff bid

WEST HAM are preparing a £2million-plus bid for Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is a long-time admirer of the Northern Ireland ace and has contacted Gers about his availability.

Rangers boss Ally McCoist is aware of the Upton Park club's interest but it's thought it would take a serious offer to tempt him to sell.

McCoist is desperate to bring in players of his own - including another striker.

Lafferty, a £3.25m signing from Burnley in 2008, finished last season in sensational form alongside Nikica Jelavic, with eight goals in the final ten matches to help clinch three in a row.

However, a summer hernia operation put paid to his hopes of kicking off this season in similar style.

Lafferty, 23. has two years left on his contract and hopes to be back in action for Gers' clash with Motherwell on August 21.

They can fuck off. Personally I love the bid man, play's for the badge. Yes he has been stupid, yes he has been inconsistent. But that is largely due to been played out wide. We all saw how deadly he can be through the middle. Would hate to see him go, especially for that money.

IMO we should sell. Lafferty is far too inconsistent. We had £2m ready to spend on Goodwillie, we should sell Lafferty and bring another £4m striker to Rangers. (tu)

This is harsh on the lad, I think he was inconsistent due to age. Every year he is improving, this season will be a big one for him. True blue.

Granted everybody has a price - but it would have to be 4-5 mill b4 ild entertain it.

Personally i cant wait to see the big man back.

You and me both mate. Ive been critical of the big man but last season he proved Walters faith in him right and we've been missing his contributions so far this season.

What's the point in selling him? We only have Jelavic and Lafferty as actual striking options.

Beattie, Healy, Little all won't do much and Naismith is better from the right. Selling him now would be a ridiculous decision especially with the way we go about trying to get players in.

And £2m is a shite bid anyway.
