ADMINISTRATORS last night revealed they had received a FOURTH bid for Rangers with a possibly a fifth pending should they win their court case against Ticketus later this week.

But Duff and Phelps distanced themselves from a report that former Dundee FC director and controversial lawyer Giovanni di Stefano has urged the ruler of Qatar to buy crisis club as it was "the very best deal in football".

The latest offer is however thought to have come from the middle east region and is regarded as a serious bid which will be examined further in the coming days.

"We have no knowledge of Mr Di Stefano or anything linked to him but a fourth offer has been made and one other could also be put forward depending on the outcome of the Ticketus situation " said a source.

Di Stefano dubbed the Devil's Advocate after representing serial killer Harold Shipman and Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein said he had highlighted the current situation of the Ibrox Club to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani .But the man who is currently facing charges of defrauding clients out of £140,000, stated that he would have "no role whatsoever" should be interested in a take over of Rangers.

I would have no involvement in anything to do with Rangers

Relatives of the Emir have been taking an interest in European football in recent years with his son and heir apparent Sheikh Tamim buying over Paris Saint Germain through the Qatar Sports Investments firm, while another relation Sheikh Abdullah purchased Malaga in Spain for around &£8364;36m in 2010.

"All I have done is pointed out to His Excellency and his advisors that in my view Rangers represents the very best deal in European football at the moment." said Di Stefano "It would require little to no substantive investment other than repayment of debts and a new owner would have a superb club that is guaranteed European Football in the coming years as well as a huge worldwide support.

"I would have no involvement in anything to do with Rangers. Mind you, if I had the money, I would buy Rangers - it represents such a good deal you'd be a mug not to. All I have done is sown the seed - if the fish bites, the fish bites. The Emir would bring stability to Rangers, which is what they need."

The lawyer who spent six months as a director at Dens Park from August 2003 to January 2004, before he left after the club went into administration says the Emir would prove to be a "fit and proper person" for Rangers.

Adminstrators Duff and Phelps have already received three bids for the club comprising a Blue Knights consortium fronted by former director Paul Murray and backed by London firm Ticketus, Sale Sharks Rugby Union Club owner Brian Kennedy and Prometheus Capital Partners based in Chicago, which owns Club 9 Sports.

A judge meanwhile will decide later this week whether a £24m deal struck by disgraced owner Craig Whyte with Ticketus for advance season tickets which he then used to buy Rangers should be nullified.

Thats the problem I have with all these stories, its so easy to make crap puns. Its almost as if news editors are running the stories for that very purpose.

If we do get a big spending owner , we ( the fans ) deserve it. Hopefully if he does decide to buy us we go down the road of Man City , All money goes in as investments and sponsorship's ( to cheat uefa ) . I'll empty my baws numerous times if this goes through.

Maybe i'm getting ahead of myself
