LeeWallaceRFC 3,920 Posted July 5, 2012 Share Posted July 5, 2012 STEWART REGAN, the chief executive of the Scottish Football Association, has warned that the sport in this country will suffer a "slow, lingering death" if Rangers are denied a place in next season's first division after the Scottish Premier League clubs voted overwhelmingly against the Ibrox newco being given a place in the top division.The focus will now fall on the Scottish Football League to see if they are willing to accommodate Rangers into their set-up and at what level. The SFL board are set to meet at Hampden today to hold further discussions, with a vote expected to be taken by their clubs at an emergency meeting next week. TannochsideBear 355 Posted July 5, 2012 Share Posted July 5, 2012 So we are to be awarded the first division title next season then without having to play any opponents, just so we can save the SPL tv deal and go back into the SPL for 13-14?With the squad we have just now, coupled with the sporting sanctions Regan is adamant we have to face up to, there can be no guarantee that we will win the SFL1 title and "save Scottish football".Will that mean if it is looking dodgy the SFA/SPL will jump in and reconstruct the leagues to ensure we play in a league that saves their tv deal?Where is the sporting integrity in any of that? If you could not provide the leadership to protect the income stream of the SPL by HELPING a member SPL club why would you expect others dig you out of a hole?Scottish football will survive! Rangers will survive!
