Rangers Shirts Abroad.

Recommended Posts

An easy wee break away thread from all the dramas ATM.

I'm not long back from the Costa Brava, obviously spent a lot of time at the beach and I saw a guy with the old red Rangers top with the white writing and dark blue on the sleeves, mcewans lager was the sponsor at the time I think (can't post a pic, on my phone) and the guy was definitely a local. I was quite chuffed, didn't expect to see it tbh. Anyone had a similar sighting of our glorious jerseys in foreign lands?

There's a guy who owns a bar in sunny beach in Bulgaria. He's called Evo and has the new top on every year, including this year in June. I've watched rangers games with him in other pubs when he couldn't get a signal in his own boozer. A real bear. His place is always full of rangers fans.

In honeymoon Oct 97,Dominican rep. We were getting taken to a fancier hotel casino(might be Boca Chica) the English tour rep warned the men that when they went to toilet to ignore the guy that soaped(oh err)you not to mention football as he would hound you for a shirt of the club you followed. Wee while later go for a shit there he is talking football, opens his collar and tie..wearing 87/88 rangers shirt.

It's right on the front. Theres a few pubs in a row on the actual beach side called the caribby, the fat cat and another pub that I can't remember it's name. It's straight across from them. Theres a Chinese above it. It doesn't say Evos on the outside although it used to. You'll see a rangers banner behind the bar as well.

Seen a local in Turkey walking around with a top with Sebo on it while in Turgetreis in September, couldn't believe it, I had the same top when he was at Ibrox, was surreal seeing someone wearing a Sebo top!

Four of us did the old inter rail Grand Tour of Europe thing in 1980.

We ended up in Greece but decided at the last minute to head for Stockholm for the Scotland World Cup Qualifier.

36 hours non stop we made the game with 20 minutes to go.

On the way down to Greece before we thought about Sweden we were in Rome prior to jumpin a ferry from Brindisi.

This Young Italian guy had a Rangers top on (Bobby Russell collar type) with a big gold crucifix round his neck

As you can imagine this was quite an unusual sight in those days and it gave us a good laugh.

Even more unusual in retrospect is the fact that we cheered Strachan when he scored for Scotland

A wee Aussie guy came to stay with my family a few years back, played a few games in our local side (he wasn't bad as it turned out!) and when he was packing up to go home kitted him out with tops, shorts and trackies! He sent a pic to us of him and his dad in the gear!!
