I thought you would all be interested to see how another league on the planet handles situations like the one faced by Rangers.

---------------------------------

The National Hockey League (the world's largest professional hockey league) faced a bankrupt club situation recently.

Instead of polling fans and being vengeful, the league took over the Phoenix Coyotes in a $100-plus million dollar deal:

http://www.cbsnews.com/2100-500290_162-5424006.html

A quote from the league stated: "Today, the National Hockey League filed its own bid to purchase the Phoenix Coyotes’ franchise out of bankruptcy in an effort to maximize the likelihood that the Club ultimately will be sold to an acceptable purchaser who is committed to operating the franchise... It continues to be our intention and hope to conclude satisfactory agreements with existing Club creditors that will allow the Coyotes to be owned and operated on a viable basis for many years to come."

The NFL saved the Cleveland Browns and the Rugby League just lent money to the Bradford Bulls.Associations are supposed to support and help member clubs not try to destroy them.

The outcome of this is that any Scottish club in our situation will go to the wall because the penalties are so severe it will not be worth trying to save them and the club is totally devalued by the actions of these vindictive authorities,or was that reserved just for the Gers

the wont let other clubs go bust. They'll loan them money to be paid back when stable again. Can just see it

Those Thrasher fans didn't deserve to lose their team due to bad ownership though.

But the Jets fans are great, loudest in the league.

Ya but Atlanta were sold fair and square to someone who wanted to move them. I imagine that could have happened here.

Also, there's the case of Atalanta, who were caught up in the Serie B match fixing scandal (albeit only one player). Punishment = 6 points.

Didn't the SFA say that our troubles (caused by one man) brought the game into disrepute....and that they considered only match fixing to be a worse crime!

It's about fucking time that UEFA brought parity to all member associations and prescribed punishments. How can one association decide that a club found to have deliberately altered results of matches get dealt with so leniently. Yet we're fucking raped, pillaged & chucked out to the vultures by a dodgy owner....and get hit with a 12 month transfer embargo, £100k fine (and whatever else they may decide to come up with later) just because the Scottish game got 'a bit of a bad reputation' from this. Fucking stinks!!!
