Brian Laudrup 25
RANGERS boss Ally McCoist faces a hectic dash to rebuild his threadbare squad after Charles Green’s newco accepted the SFA’s 12-month transfer embargo. The signing ban will start on September 1, giving McCoist just 42 days to acquire enough new players to take the club through to the January transfer window of 2014.And he made his first move by opening talks with Dean Shiels, below, who is out of contract after leaving Kilmarnock. It’s understood former Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings is also on McCoist’s radar, along with ex-Hearts playmaker Ian Black. All three are ready to play in the Third Division providing they can agree terms and are given long-term contracts.Dundee United trio Robbie Neilson, Scott Robertson and Garry Kenneth could also be targets for McCoist. The Ibrox side expect to lose top earners such as Carlos Bocanegra, Kirk Broadfoot and Maurice Edu, with the latter a target for Valencia.Green’s newco Ibrox outfit last night moved a significant step closer to securing their SFA membership, following four days of negotiations with the governing body, although the Light Blues have not signed an agreement.Club chairman Malcolm Murray said: “The choice is stark – take sanctions or risk not playing football at all. We do not wish to gamble with the club’s future so, under duress, we have taken the difficult decision to accept some sanctions in order to move forward.”The Gers have accepted sanctions that were applied to the oldco, including the transfer ban and a £160,000 fine imposed after ex-owner Craig Whyte was found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.McCoist will now sit down with the Ibrox hierarchy to thrash out details of the players he needs as they begin life in the Third Division following the departure of Steven Naismith, Steven Whittaker, Kyle Lafferty and Jamie Ness, who received provisional international clearance from FIFA last night. The fifth player to refuse to transfer to the newco, Steven Davis, above, was still awaiting word on his clearance. The SFA were also seeking clarity on who is involved in Green’s Sevco consortium, with regards to financial backers and shareholders. In a statement they said: “The SFA has received the financial information requested.“The imposition of conditions relating to transfer of membership was made on the basis that the SFA, as the governing body, has an obligation to protect the integrity of the national game and to ensure that all member clubs operate within the Articles of Association.”http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/334274

andy500 463
Would be delighted with Dean Shiels, Ian Black, Robbie Neilson and Steve Jennings. If we hold onto Alexander, McCulloch and (less likely) Wallace - that team would absolutely romp through Division 2 and 3. Wouldn't be bossed off the park like the boys would have been. ramsay4 9
Would all be cracking signings IMO. after all, what the fuck else do we have??? lets be honest here guys, these players would be nowhere near ibrox if things were, as per, but theyre not and we need all the players we can get. if these guys are clever theyll join in a heart beat. they will probably earn more, not less than what they earn on a friday right now added with, every second week theyll be playing at (hopefully) a packed ibrox and the chance to become club legends quite quickly if we reach the spl in 3 seasons. small sacrifice for them at the moment to drop to division 3 but surely theyd love to be a part of the new rangers on our well documented journey into the unknown.whatever happens im excited for the new challenges ahead and look forward to watching the future of my beloved club blossomWATP
