Amac9 2,060
RANGERS hope to push through the signing of Craig Beattie despite already securing the signatures of three other strikers in the last 10 days. The Light Blues have had the former Hearts player in for training and he has been reported to have knocked back an initial contract offer from the club. After overseeing Gers’ 4-0 League Cup win over East Fife, Ally McCoist quickly turned his attentions back to negotiations with the Scotland cap.And he is keen to recruit other key players having brought in Fran Sandaza, Kevin Kyle, Ian Black, Dean Shiels and resigned Andrew Little.McCoist said: “We’re hopefully going to have a wee chat about that later on tonight and tomorrow morning with Charles, Kenny and Ian.“We’ll see if we can push that one forward. We’ve nothing as yet in terms of signing him but Craig’s certainly someone we have been looking at.“There’s obviously a good number of others on the radar as well and I’m delighted with the players we have brought in.“Dean Shiels was in the top four PFA players so you could make an argument we’ve signed one of Kilmarnock’s best players.“In my opinion, we’ve signed one of Hearts’ best players in Ian Black and we’ve signed two centre forwards who are proven at the top level in this country.“That’s an indication of the kind of players we are trying to attract and I think it’s really encouraging they want to come to the club.“I’m really excited about one or two of the youngsters coming in but they need a hand and we have to get a blend there and get them looked after and protected.“We want to build a team that can compete against anyone in the country and that’s what we are hoping to do.”With McCulloch, Little, Kyle, Sandaza, Shiels and McKay all capable of playing up top I don't think we need him. MasterD 7,435
Waste of money, we have enough.
Colin. 38
Agreed, I don't think Beattie is required anymore with our attacking options now. With Edu and Bedoya now likely to leave I think we should looking at another midfielder or two.
kanjo 26,327
Rather we looked at other positions....especially defensive options.
Glennywatp 23
still would improve our team, black never worth wages we are payen him.
OzGers 425
I would leave Beattie, enough up front now, and with hemmings to come back...need to focus on midfield and defence with another rb and perhaps a cb if boca n goian go
hugh_capet 341
Agree with above, he had his chance
Dietspam 733
I would rather we sold Boca and Goain if they want to leave and bring in someone with experience to help Perry and Hegarty through.
4MenHadADream 122
Like others have said I don't think we particularly need him now, especially if this will be at the expense of other areas that we need to strengthen
tbblue 167
I think we will sign another 5 or 6 with boca edu, bedoya and goian leaving.
GaryMc 2,394
It was Beattie or Kyle for me so now I don't want Beattie. However I would much rather have had Beattie than Kyle if I'm honest.
elephants stoned 2,994
With McCulloch, Little, Kyle, Sandaza, Shiels and McKay all capable of playing up top I don't think we need him.Im thinking the same, after having signed 0 strikers since David Healy we now seem to be going striker crazy, would rather young Mckay gets a chance over Beattie. kanjo 26,327
I actually thought Black had a decent game tonight. Not his best in fairness but he done well enough for me.
sergio 1,199
I would take beattie, Jig can play in midfield or defence, remember we are signing players to cover for 2 years. I would love boca to stay and goian to go and bring in another CB and a holding mid and winger ....
ronniemca 479
we need a couple of wide players in my opinion.little is not a natural wide player. and we need a wide left player as an option in case we lose wallace
bluenose_72 198
I'd rather have Beattie than Kyle but with Kyle already signed I don't see how we can justify having Beattie as well.
billy72 17
still would improve our team, black never worth wages we are payen him.Stop it mate ,he will be a great signing capable of more than Davis once we get back to spl.

BillyBoy11 63
Would much prefer Beattie to Kyle. But now we have Kyle we don't need Beattie.
MasterD 7,435
Stop it mate ,he will be a great signing capable of more than Davis once we get back to spl.He will be a decent signing no doubt, but to say he'll be capable of more than Davis is pish. Liam_RFC 238
We wont be able buy players so Beattie will be a great signing IMO
papaguy51 912
Not sure about Beattie now.I hope Ally's not going to do what Walter occasionally done and just got loads of strikers and used the ones he couldn't fit up top on the wings.Buy some wingers Ally, please. Raligt 2,541
Would rather we got in another midfielder instead to be honest.
Travelrug 268
He will be a decent signing no doubt, but to say he'll be capable of more than Davis is pish.He was capable of signing a contract with our club in it's current position. That is more than Davis done. That should never be forgotten.Good luck Ian, I hope you prosper at our club whilst helping some of our young lads that will be playing around you.
