ForeverBlue_Since91 2,895
did he not play at right back under PLG when we had Bartley on loan from MU.did he not play at right back under PLG when we had Bartley on loan from MU.That was Phil Bardsley we had from Man u. And we had Papac at left back Smith would have been backup back then aswell.I think he was only coming through to the 1st team from the youths at that time? GOAT 30,449
All this signing tells us is our youths are pish if we can't bring someone else through as a back-up for Wallace, our scouting system is pathetic if we can't scout a decent young player as back-up for Wallace, or Wallace is being sold. Either way, it's fucken pathetic.
Jimbob82 0
Papac started off as a Centre back when PLG came in from memory, and a bloody terrible one at that.Smith will be good cover, or solid at left back if Wallace is pushed forward. The lad was unlucky with a terrible pelvic injury first time around, we need a squad if we are to try and challenge for cups this season and he is mid level SPL quality so will be just fine for a couple of seasons. ForeverBlue_Since91 2,895
Wallace is a given.I know he's rarely injured but he's got the attributes to be able to play to a good level almost anywhere on the park at the level we're at. He may be shifted around a wee bit, and Smith would be more than adequate cover. He possesses a very good left-foot as well, so perhaps we might see a decent corner for the first time in two years.Last time he played for us he couldn't get it by the 1st man which seems to normal for Rangers players. delamonty 992
Another bad move imho. We need to be developing youth -- not signing guys that are useless to us in 2 years time.

GOAT 30,449
I've said it from day one, this was our chance to completely change the ethos of the club. Invest in scouting, invest in coaching, invest in youth development. We had three seasons to build a proper team. I'm actually gutted no-one at the club has that vision. All we're going doing is signing players to get us up the divisions. What happens once we're in the SPL? We start buying again? Absolutely shocking. Words can't describe how much we're fucking things up here. What a chance, and we're not taking it.
Chas Merlyn 7
More than good enough for Div 2, and remember all these lads are coming on board with the transfer embargo still in place. No sense in having a whole team of under 21's at this stage.Decent cover and decent experience. Hope his injuries are behind him.Welcome back Stevie. Get out there and prove the doubters and doom mongers wrong.

He was on loan to dumbarton at the end if the season and a bet they don't even take him.

scarkev 3,540
Fuckin joke of a signing shows how bad our scouting system is, re-signing a player who didn't make it at Ibrox and since left us hasn't improved in his career waste of a fuckin wage. It's posts like this that really limit the potential credibility of this site and some fans... Hysterical overreactions and negative nonsense....by all means have an opinion and voice it but the exaggeration in your post renders it pointless. Is it a "fuckin joke" of a signing? - No....it's not a fantastic signing but it's a sensible one on many levels. Is it an indication on how bad our scouting system is? - No....for all you know he may be the most cost effective option available to provide left side cover.Fact is he is left footed which does actually make a difference to the balance of the team, he is a good trainer and a good pro who will push the younger ones around him....is it a stop the press signing? No....but please save us the over reaction Pish....we have had enough of it these past years!

IanFerguson2012 123
It's on the official Rangers site so it's probably OK to assume he is signed. Welcome back, hope you do a good job for us.

WWTC 2,247
Shite player, shite signing. Easy option. Says alot about the player aswell since, at 27, hes willing to come and play 2nd fiddle to the best fullback in the country.

Thats the worst attempt at justifying a signing that ive ever heard. Will we move onto a list of two footed players now so we're mega balanced for the new campaign? And i couldnt help but fail to notice the part where you mention his ability to do what hes paid to do, namely play football. Will we move onto a list of two footed players now so we're mega balanced for the new campaign?Have you ever played football? Or in fact do you even watch it? At pretty much every level of the game natural left footers are rare....most players of a decent level can play on the left but the balance is often affected as 9/10 they have to cut back onto their right foot....last season Mitchell played well at left back but nearly got caught our a few times turning away from his unnatural left foot and many moves broke down because he couldn't link up the line with Templeton as easily....having left sided cover in a team is important at any level...Now put the scissors down and stop getting all hysterical and overreacting to things! Put it into perspective then think about it!
