Madrid's summer signings.

Recommended Posts

So apparently Real Madrid are going to sign Bale and Suarez for a combined fee of 110million......AND Ronaldo wants a new deal worth 600k a week,...I've always wondered how Madrid are able to do this more or less every season when they haven't won anything, Mourinho's one title apart, for a long time.I recall their president saying the ''galactico'' days were over, then they spunked over 100million on Ronaldo and Kaka,...

Ofcourse there will be a reason that one club can do this and not run into financial ruin, but I can't put my finger on it.

Being the massive club they are, they are constantly in the Champions League, they have huge income streams spanning from their TV cut in spain to merchandising all across the globe, they have high ticket prices and ST prices and huge sponsorship deals. Oh, and wealthy owners/shareholders!

The funny thing is they have over taken United this year a the Worlds richest club but . . .

they are also £600 million in debt

Also in Spain Real & Barca get half of all tv and sponsor income & the other half goes to the rest of La Liga

They recouped the entire £80m they spent on Ronaldo after around 6months from shirt sales alone, nevermind any other revenues streams generated from Ronaldo being there.

Did they really though? If we say that they sell their tops at £50 (£51.99 at Sports Direct), they would have to sell 1,6 million "Ronaldo" tops alone.. They have averaged 1,4 million tops TOTAL per season from 07/08 - 11/12.

That's bullshit.

As the guy said above, they would need to sell 1.6 million tops that they wouldn't normally have sold.

Exactly. People often say this, but if you look at the numbers its just not possible. Clubs dont sell as many tops as people think. AC Milan averaged something like 350.000 in the same 5 years.. Im fairly confident that we would have at least matched that..

The uk in general, most of our clubs supporters mostly wear strips etc to the games and out and about daily life

In Italy you see more supporters without at games than you do with a strip
