TWO men have been arrested following the attack on Alan Short, who was walking by himself in the resort of Pattaya when he was assaulted.

Alan Short, 50, was walking alone in the resort of Pattaya when two men struck up a conversation with him before launching a sickening assault.

Alan – who was wearing a Rangers top at the time – was left unconscious on the street.

Two thugs, believed to be from Ireland, were arrested shortly afterwards and charged over the incident.

Alan was left with blood streaming down his face.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene, who battled to stem the loss of blood, before being taken to a local hospital for further treatment for injuries to his head and face.

Witnesses to the unprovoked assault, which took place at around 3.30am, alerted police and medics.

They were able to give a description of the attackers, which led to the two men being arrested down the road. The pair – who initially refused to confirm their names or the country they were from –

were taken into custody in front of the city’s Royal Garden Plaza.

Last night, Alan – who lost a lot of blood from a wound inside his mouth and a gash on his head – was believed to be still in hospital recovering from his ordeal.

Disgraceful, this was an unprovoked sectarian attack by two foreigners, yet at no point do they point out that it was a sectarian attack. If 2 Rangers fan battered an Irish guy to a pulp for wearing a mhanky top or an Irish top, you can just see the headlines now. Gutter press and fans should complain to the record regarding the fact that it was a sectarian attack yet they failed to mention this.
