stuvah 146
I was only a lad when he played for us but he was always one of my favourite players. I was talking to my old man about him yesterday and he said he was average at best, can any of the older bears who would remember him better shed any light on this lol
TravelingWilBEARy 4,319
He done well for us, old fashioned sort of full back. When he went in for a tackle the opposition player knew all about it, put it that way.I thought he was under-appreciated at the time.
Ger77 742
He certainly wouldnt make a Rangers top 50 defenders.
elephants stoned 2,994
He was a big brusing player who could put in a good tackle but also could make a few bombscare moments too. A good defender by todays standards but probably seemed less so in the heady days of the late 90s
JCDBigBear 10,810
Over-rated in my opinion.

Coplandbear11 1,087
I liked Porrini. But erratic at times though.
TravelingWilBEARy 4,319
Mind he scored a cracker of a goal at Ibrox against St Johnstone or Dunfermline (canny mind which) in 1 -0 win at Ibrox under Advocaat. Smacked it into the roof of the net from the corner of the box in front of the Copland.
Redsox1 1,361
Good defender but def not a modern day type. Was too slow to do the overlapping side of the modern game. solid tackler though and a steady player.
gmcf 34,090
I quite liked him but didn't think he was £4 millions worth.
Smile 26,600
Decent enough but painfully slow.
TBagalag 721
As the majority have already said, Porrini was an unspectacular player who didn't have many poor games but can't really recall any brilliant games either.
SeparateEntityMyArse 53,615
Solid defender. Not the best going forward, certainly not a wingback.
mearns loyal 2,711
A defender who did just that and very little else, like most Italian defenders of that era...
Dutchy 1,200
Put it this way, I can't remember too much about him and considered him nothing more than a makeweight. Certainly not memorable.
don logan 8,057
A steady Eddie. The Sasa Papac of his day.
allgers 735
Did we pay 4 mil for him, we gave money away in those day's.

Certainly not memorable.id say our top scorer and a goal phenomenon shagging his wife then Porrini battering him and Negri taking a 2 year huff is pretty memorable but as for the actual football id probably agree

JCDBigBear 10,810
id say our top scorer and a goal phenomenon shagging his wife then Porrini battering him That is a fairy tale, one of those urban myths with no credence whatsoever. bingboyBLUE 72
Not as good as he was at Juve for sure but a good solid bruiser.
JohnH 270
He was a steady performer, overall I quite liked him.
danger ranger 922
Ran like a half shut knife, and was always caught too far forward with the ball over the top, a total waste of money.
Non_Sucumbi 876
Good player. Solid reliable defender and a really nice guy who seemed to enjoy his time at the Gers. Reckoned that the game in Scotland was all about 'rush' and that players didnt get enough time on the ball. Felt the hussle and bustle of the game in Scotland harmed Rangers when it came to European games.
