FIFA chief wades into handball situation and insists SFA are WRONG to ban Josh Meekings ... "it’s a DANGEROUS move"

WORLD governing body’s vice president and ref boss Jim Boyce insists Hampden hierarchy have set a worrying precedent in taking retrospective action over the Scottish Cup semi-final shocker.

FIFA vice-president Jim Boyce has today waded into handballgate – insisting the SFA were WRONG to ban Josh Meekings.

Boyce, who is also the world’s governing body’s head of referees, has claimed Hampden chiefs have set a "dangerous precedent" by retrospectively carpeting the Inverness defender for a handball the ref didn’t see.

Whistler Steven McLean and his assistants missed Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final flashpoint but SFA compliance officer Tony McGlennan issued a "notice of complaint" following Celtic’s letter on Monday that demanded an explanation.

Now Boyce has revealed he is totally opposed to the intervention by the compliance officer.

The Northern Irishman said: "This sets a very dangerous precedent, I am absolutely, 100 per cent against the compliance officer becoming involved because the referee's decision is final.

"It is a totally different matter if someone has gone over the top, or committed a serious foul, or head-butted someone and the referee has missed it.

"Those are disciplinary issues. But what happened here is that the referee has made a mistake regarding a handball and that's the end of it. There is no way the player should now be disciplined for that.

"Whose to say it was even intentional? If the Scottish FA or their referees committee decide that they feel a serious mistake was made then they could take action in the future against that referee.

"I can understand why Celtic are annoyed because they felt they should have had a penalty kick, but these things happen at all levels of football every week.

"The only punishment, if any punishment at all is due, should be made if the Scottish FA feel the officials in charge of this game acted improperly and made the wrong decision."

Why don't they step in and get it fixed then?

Don't believe they actually have the authority to step in and overturn the decision; However FIFA coming out and saying this publicly, should be enough on it's own to deter the SFA following through with it.

Going ahead with it now would cause a shitstorm of epic proportions.

The SFA's never been fit for purpose in my mind tbh.

No one involved with a specific football club should sit on the SFA board, should be completely independent/unbiased board, clubs wishing to approach the SFA on matters should put a representative in front of the board, and then matters should proceed from there, or submit requests/complaints in writing.

Well said Jim boyce. Everybody and their dog knows what the plastic paddies are trying to do.they tried to put enough preasure on the sfa that they would have ether been given the game, or been handed a replay with the caley player banned. Its all down to eufa caving in to them twice in a couple of years. So they thought they could do the same on this occasion.

Dreadful decisions have been overturned before. England's "goal" against West Germany. Diego Maradona's "hand of God" goal. Thierry Henry's "goal" against Ireland. Joe Jorda's "goal" against Wales. All requiring "clarification". Oh wait a minute : were they not all accepted?

I think that the mhanks will NEVER EVER accept loosing a game of Football with any sense of grace dignity or manners..The are the arse hole cunts of World Football who have taken their "always cheated never defeated" chip on the shoulder attitude to a new lower than the gutter level.

A soon to be potential convicted racist tottie heid mumbling about being robbed!!..A wave of downtrodden paranoid ramblings about conspiracies and the puppets at the cfa dance to their fuckin tune!!..

They are getting beyond Parody now. And it requires someone with a set of baws to stand up and tell these cunts to shut the fuck up ACCEPT IT and get back to Glorifying Murdering Terrorists fuckwits.. :wanker::mad:

Only Josh Meeking's "hand of prod" needed clarification apparently. Disgusting Governing body we have, bow to pressure, no backbone, infiltrated by the minks.
