Warburton: Patience

"To see backing of that level is magnificent and the players and staff are well aware of it. You have to relish that weight of expectation and that type of challenge and not wilt under it."

"The players are well aware of the support and the backing we can expect at Ibrox, and our job is to deliver the type of football and the type of performances which merit such a strong support."

"Its easy to ask the fans for patience, but I understand that they are the paying public and they want to come and support their team and see the team play well."

"I hope very much they can see differences and what were trying to do and trying to achieve with a younger team. Our way will be to have young, hungry players who are well monitored by the senior players in the squad, although theyll be smaller in number."

"I hope the fans can be patient with us if we can, but our job is to go out there as quickly as possible with a plan and make it very evident."

Supporters will get their first chance to see Warburtons new-look team in action against Burnley at Ibrox on July 21, and the manager is very much relishing the prospect of coming up against old friend Sean Dyche.

"It will be a tough test," he continued. "Im looking forward to playing at Ibrox obviously, but there are another tough two weeks of training for us before then."

"Were starting to get the structure and intensity levels to our play, and the fitness levels are starting to come, so hopefully in two weeks time we will be a lot nearer where we need to be."

Now is the time for patience without a doubt.

At last we're trying to do things the right way so as long as we see progress being made with regards to young players and a good footballing style being introduced then we will have to zip it and soak up any defeats along the way.

I know some just won't have that though but tough shit tbh.

It is apparent that Mr Warburton is getting to grips with what is required at our club very quickly indeed. He's saying all the right things and he is going to build his squad with patient planning and forethought for the future. It's not an easy job putting his preferred structure in place in such a short time span, but he is determined to get it as right as possible.

I'm full of admiration for him in the way he's accepted such a big challenge and seems determined to succeed doing it his way. I also think we will see a massive improvement in certain players that were retained from last season (perhaps in different roles from where they played previously) Patience is a key and he will get my full support even if we tend to falter on a few occassions early in his tenure.

Wont happen at Ibrox.

Nobody gets to be second best with our support.

Very true but if we are not patient and do not give Warburton time and space to do his thing we will be 2nd best to diddy teams for longer than any of us would want.

No more seasons like the last one will be aceptable.

There has to be a big improvement shown over the coming months.

I think Warburton with the right investment could do well but will he get the backing he needs.

The board seem more focused on setting up fans groups than they are on setting up a scouting network.

What was it, two years he spent at Brentford looking at and checking out all the possible young players. Guys he was looking at as promising at 17/18 should now be ripe for signing with us. Or should we just wait until all the other clubs cherry pick them off first?

He must have some players in mind? What's the delay? Money?

We have got to be patient for the first time for years we appear to have a decent plan and we are starting to implement it. We have not got a great reputation for giving your players support and they will need it . Let's get behind them and with a bit of luck we should see some decent football

Change is scary. But...

People can't criticise how we went about things before, throwing money at names and reputations, then criticise when we opt for a new direction centred around our own young, hungry players with additions requiring specific traits desired by the manager. MW appears very positive and content with our preparations, I see no reason to doubt him.

I'm sure most rational Rangers fans will give the new manager and his team the patience they require and deserve. We have asked for this type of approach for years, analysing our signings and leaving pathways for the youth to affect the first team, time for those with overwhelming doubts around this strategy to try and buy into it.

An interesting one the more thought I give it.

I'm on record as having concerns re the progress being made. I feel MW was brought in later than he could have been, hasn't brought in enough players yet, and even if he does now its not ideal to get them up to speed tactically etc

To some I show a lack of patience, a panic merchant. The thing is I think next year will be much harder than many think. As I did last year to the ridicule of many.

Hibs started slowly last year which I understand in a transitional year, like we will be in. They played the best football I saw and have strengthened in their weak area up front. They are settled.

Our youths may be good but I doubt they've ever played an intensive, pressing style of play in their lives. This will take time.

I doubt our spine is strong enough and dont see enough goals in the squad.

I reckon MWs job is huge, and enormously difficult. But he has to hit the ground running as by next transfer window it could be too late.

Yet some on here are relaxed, some have blind faith, some reckon he'd have won the league last year with the squad we had. This leaguesalready won its now about competing with the mhanks.

I genuinely believe the start of the campaign will be slow for us. Yet because of the enormity of the task I reckon I'll have more appreciation and patience than many. And I reckon those who are blase just now could then be the angry impatient panic merchants

I am trying to be patient. We have lost an entire first team, and brought in only 3 replacements so far. I understand that some of the younger guys int he squad will make the step up as well.

That being said, the preseason games are rapidly approaching, and IMO we need a good few more bodies in. I think it's all went a bit quiet on that front, which will obviously lead to patience being worn thin.

sima, supporting the managers vision is not writing off the league as won. I haven't seen many overconfident, more optimistic. I trust MW. Of course it won't be easy, we learned that last season.

Win, lose or draw we are operating with strategies for the long term betterment of the club. As fans we have to support the new managers plans and decisions, because he knows more than any of us on this new direction we want to adopt, and that requires patience.

The same way we want more youth in the squad we have to be patient with them and allow our youth to flourish in a supportive, patient and positive environment. That doesn't mean the erosion of our clubs winning traditions, it means having an open mind to new philosophies and looking at the bigger picture.

Not looking at the bigger picture and constantly employing short term fixes, like bringing in numbers at expense, was a contentious issue for many.

Now is the time for change. Now is the time for patience.

MW has been here 4 weeks. There are 7 weeks of the transfer window remaining. If patience is wearing thin already then we have no chance of seeing through this vision.

there might be 7 weeks left of the tranfer window, but there are a lot less than that before we start playing real football again mate.

I totally get your point, but IMO I just don't feel there has been enough movement yet.

This is Rangers, we don't do patience very well here. FWIW I am not worried yet, just losing a little of the patience I have :P

I think we have to be patient and allow them to bring in a few experienced players. I was saying in division 2 that we would struggle when we got promoted. This year we will be better prepared with players who know they have to perform rather than being the managers pal. We wont be defending from the goal line and that alone will give the team more confidence. If they bring in one experienced striker, a midfielder, a left back and right back then I will be really confident. Warburton will know after this Spurs game what is required.

Like what happened with PLG.

PLG admitted to going in underprepared due to underestimating what it took to succeed at rangers warburton doesn't strike me as the type of man who would make that mistake

I'm saying our support has never showed patience that's just one example.

I am not disagreeing with most of this. I believe in the manager's vision too and it seems we are both happy with the path we are on.

It's more how far along it we believe we should be.

It seems you are more relaxed until the end of the transfer window, I am very firmly in the camp believing season kick off time is critical for being ready.

I guess I want some of the medium / longer type player solutions brought in sooner (now) as I do believe Hivees will be a very dangerous competition next season. Do we need the pressure of a slow start and playing catch up?

For me the bigger picture has to include winning the league. The short term readiness and performances, not short term fixes as such, will play a huge part in this.
