raging blue 1972 894
Obviously is not going to work against better teams. Leaving two at the back and so high up the park is just asking for trouble ala last night's third and St Mirren's first goal, not to mention getting caught far too often and being totally exposed.. I'd personally play something akin to a 3 2 3 1 1 -Wilson, Ball (sitting deeper in the middle) and Kiernan as a back 3Wallace and Tav higher up and when one goes the other drops back to make 4Holt Shiels Law with Shiels as sitling midfielderWaghorn in hole and maybe McKay up top (different I know but boy has pace to burn and can score)would certainly give us a bit of security, even if only playing this way against better teams than the championshipThe way we we play is just asking for trouble at times - thoughts(and no telling me to fuck off ya mad bams lol -cue first reply lol)

Malvern 11,329
Change formations however you want but that is not going to be the answer when the players are falling around in the first half and losing the ball.It was a bad day at the office for us and a good kick in the balls to make sure we don't get another one any time soon, for the last three weeks we have not bee sharp enough as we were when we first started, that needs to change first. The guys have only been together for three months and we were always going to lose eventually, don't see the point in ripping up the book now over one game. Even the best teams lose to unexpected teams at times.
Wearethepeople72 1,845
Maybe not the formation, but we need to change the way that we play against better teams.Maybe not letting the full-backs go as far forward and making the defensive line a bit deeper would be the answer. Laudrup1984 25,100
No need for knee jerk reactions IMO. The formation is fine. We've been crying out for an offensive, exciting brand of football for a long time and finally we have it. To change it due to one game would be naive at best.Football is a funny old game but ultimately poor defensive mistakes and individual errors cost us dearly. And when you go chasing you become more exposed. Also goals change games and if we take the lead things could have been so much different.Of course we need another side to our armoury but the players will get better and we will improve positionally and defensively. We will also sign better players going forward to fit into our system.
Creampuff 22,628
No. It doesn't.We lost a game of football against a side playing at a higher level. It's not the end of the world.

Exactly mate, one defeat in 12 games and some folk want to change this and that. Our bread and butter is in winning this league and where are we? - oh yes, we're on the top - enough said. Sket 13,610
The wonders of a football forum. It's full of people who think they are better football managers than actual football managers.I'm sure Warburton knows more about what formation we need to use than some random punter on the Internet. Some insane over reactions. While I'm disappointed to be out of the league cup, I'm kinda of glad it's made a lot realise we are not unstoppable and we probably won't go up next season and easily win the league, but some need to get a little perspective. We played a club in a higher league from us and played our normal possesion game and caught got on the counter.

raging blue 1972 894
shouldn't have bothered lol -wouldn't pretend to know better, just think we have been badly exposed a few times and need to tighten up - remember walter played differently in europe and at times against them than against the other teams (thats why boyd hardly played the big games). I did say would certainly give us a bit of security, even if only playing this way against better teams than the championship.Don't think we have the players to play this way all time, kiernan and wilson are too slow and halliday is not disciplined enough to start -again just an opinion but the poster Sket above seems to know which is shit so perhaps he can enlighten us a bit more with his infinite wisdom instead of insulting folk

STEPPS BOY 73,803
the only place Id consider a formation change in this league is away to Easter rd.If we draw a SPL team in cup, especially away from home, imo we'd need to tinker with formation.. ianferguson 2,619
At the moment our centre half's play like full backs which will never work against good teams ,especially without the support of an experienced holding midfielder to drop back and protect them . Hopefully Warburtons plan to use Eustice there will come good and make us more solid for no team will prosper while giving goals away easily.
