OlegKuznetsov 10,816
I remember Souness changing it before a Europeian game to suit his game plan.Vs. Dinamo Kiev.Regarding widening it now, it would expose our centre backs even more, given our style. Swings and roundabouts.
BertContraband 282
I think ally narrowed it to fall in line with his narrow minded approach
siddiqi_drinker 14,635
I think ally narrowed it to fall in line with his narrow minded approachWhen he was manager, did he not make it narrower to expose more grass near the technical area where he could practice his gardening? After all he did fuck all else during games
writingranger 1,413
Was the narrowing something to do with the Commonwealth Games? Did the club ever get compensation for having to rip out the concrete they put in to support the rugby posts?I think the income generated was in the annual accounts
bump 168
wider pitch would be a winner for me.more room to pass and play
choochooblue 342
No it doesn't. All it would take is for the goals to be moved and the grass resprayed. Which I actually think is what happened after the rugby was finished.Your honestly not grasping this , if by your logic they only shortened the touchline at the enclosure side and , as you say , they then just need to move the goals then surely you must understand the goals would then be off centre in comparison to both the Broomloan and Copland stands ?Now think about your ridiculous idea that the goals could be moved sideways before posting mate ! Creampuff 22,628
Yeah this is a moot point, Warburton will have spoke to the ground staff before the season started.
Rambo1872 4,065
Arsenal have one of the biggest pitches in Europe and they don't put crosses in.The way we play with quick passing and movement it would obviously be beneficial to have the pitch widened. Opposition teams would be stretched more giving us more space to play in.On the flip side, our defence would be stretched giving them more space to play meaning defenders may fatigue quicker etc.
Craig53 326
The wider the pitch the better, in fact we should spin it around 90° - and play across the halfway line. That idea can fuck off, I sit in the Sandy Jardine Stand partly because I don't want to sit behind the goals! Otherwise a sound plan, can't see why not!
