Facial Recognition To Punish Fans

Maybe we should all just sit round the camp fire singing kumbaya.

Us and our Ira friends from the east.

Alternatively we make our own statement as Rangers fans - everyone wears a scarf, or no one leaves concourse til 5 mins after k.o. - and let others take their own actions.

If it's the same day fine.

If it's walking beside Ira loving scum who chuck bottles at kids faces then I'm out.

Sing TBB all you want as long you have your scarf covering your mouth. If you miraculously get lifted and took to court it will get thrown out.

Everytime.

Naw mate! Scarves will be banned from football grounds as will banners, big flags etc....oh! and bike helmets :pipe:

Yep.

Your right about them causing it. But if your serious about wanting things like this reversed football fans of all ilk need to show a united front.

Media outside Scotland would take serious notice if fans of both Old Firm teams took a united stand on an issue like this.

Plenty we could do within our own fanbase.

The Union Bears wish to express our deep concern regarding the proposals from the SPFL that facial recognition CCTV should be introduced at Scottish stadiums under the guise of fan safety. Facial recognition works on the presumption that football fans are criminals, which could not be further from the truth, and the rumoured £4m cost could definitely be spent better elsewhere.

This comes a few years after the failed Offensive Behaviour Act introduced by the current government to criminalise football supporters, and is yet another example of how out of touch both the SPFL and Government are with football fans and the issues of sectarianism and their perception of offensive behaviour.

At a time of general decline for football across the country, we would urge all supporters and fan groups to oppose these proposed measures, which will no doubt further impact already declining attendances. With the current climate of high ticket pricing, over zealous policing and poor overall fan experience, this is the last thing Scottish football needs.

RST should sell these. Put it on when you sing TBB.

While that is a terrible choice of mask, wouldn't an appropriate protest be to wear anonymous masks. I don't mean so that we can sing the allegedly naughty word from the allegedly naughty song. I just mean 45k Bears wearing the anonymous mask would be quite a statement.

They should be looking for investment in grass roots football and schemes to encourage fans back to games.

Anyway facial recognition software isn't about identifying people after the act it's about identifying fans should they disregard a banning order, identifying them at turnstiles etc
