robg58 319
Edinburgh Derby and Kilmarnock v Rangers are unlikely to be on TV unless the SFA can find a way around the rules. THE Edinburgh derby Scottish Cup replay and Rangers’ trip to Kilmarnock are facing TV blackouts next week. Sky Sports and BBC are both entitled to show a tie each but the replay dates clash with Champions League action. Hibs are set to host Hearts at Easter Road after yesterday’s 2-2 draw while Gers travel to Rugby Park after a goalless draw on Saturday. The matches are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 16 but Benfica take on Zenit St Petersburg and PSG host Chelsea on the same night. Under UEFA rules, no other football can be screened in direct opposition to Champions League games. The blackout could cost the clubs around £80,000 each and the broadcasters and the SFA are looking at ways to beat the restriction. One possibility is for a tea time kick off with another to move the game to Monday night, although with all four clubs in action this Saturday it’s unlikely. Fixture schedulers are facing another headache with Dundee’s replay against Dumbarton on the same night as Dundee United are at home to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership which means one of those matches will have to be rearranged. OlegKuznetsov 10,816
If all four clubs are in action on Saturday, Monday night is fair as it's equally unfair on all of them.
Big Al 55 9,205
Fuck the champions league. English games were on last year when they were on. Televise them and see what happens.

Thermopylae 15,286
Unfortunately the game is run for the clubs dripping in cash these days ... why should the Champions league not face competition on television? If it's the best they should have nothing to fear from domestic games

Theres football on tele virtually every night of week and it doesn't stop people going to games!
Guest
I think its a bit ridiculous that they cant televise a Scottish game because Portugese, Russian, French and English teams are playing on the same night.
Virtuoso 27,180
Why even schedule the replays for when they can't be televised? More fucking incompetence from the SFA.
AlBear. 8,499
Doesn't everyone just watch the games on internet streams anyway? I mean the £80,000 would be nice but I'm pretty sure it isn't vital. So, what are we moaning about?
KingKirk 25,461
I wonder what would happen if this was a OF replay. I think it'll come down to how much the tv wants both games.
ebt1 9
Pretty simple really. Keep the games on these dates and if supporters are really interested then go to Rugby Park and support the team.

BlueBeard 241
How are traveling fans supposed to finish work and get to Kilmarnock and Edinburgh for a six o'clock kick off, just another boot in the balls to the fans, if this goes ahead. ger4life_1872 29,308
I would think the games would need too kick off at half 4 / 5 because of the chance of extra time and pens , the games should be played too a finish at the first game imo too do away with problems like this , also if the sfa wanted the games too be on tv then they shouldnt have rushed into announcing the replay dates
ElBufalo20 7,826
There is no actual rule for this. It's a myth. UEFA would like and suggest that you don't broadcast at the same time as champions league games so everyone is watching their event and nothing else. you can show live games at the same time just don't look favourably on it

Exactly. UEFA have been found to be corrupt anyway. Fining teams for fans booing a Gazprom / Continental / Sony 'anthem?' Fuck them.
