Hateley the CB?

Recommended Posts

I seem to remember Mark Hateley playing a game vs Kilmarnock (lost 1-0) at the end of 93-94 season as a Centre half. Was just wondering was this a one off or was Walter planning on using him more in that position? Bearing in mind big dunc was maybe gonna get a run of games up top for the new season. Seemed a crazy idea to play him CB when he'd scored 30 goals that season. Any thoughts?

What, you mean like a 326-year-old battle...?

An entire religion and culture has been built based around Hateley's appearance at CB against Kilmarnock, so aye it seems reasonable to be questioning why it happened.

Would be great if it was the real Erik bo sitting at home frantically pondering the implications of Hateley briefing featuring at CB

Nah.

Like us mere mortals he's watching X Hamster chugging like a freight train.

He often spoke about wanting to move into defence later in his career (I think as another poster said there was chat in his book 'Top Mark' about it).

Idea was his strength and ability in the air would be an asset in that position when his pace began to go. Left the club before it ever became a reality.
