What players would you let go.

There are a few things to think about.

We are in a situation where our squad is tiny, and need to expand it. Players who have barely kicked a ball, cost us a lot of money in wages, are not be good enough, or cover already in place should go. Bell and Templeton are the two that come to mind in terms of wages and not playing. Clark I don't think is good enough to stay in the squad, although don't doubt his commitment.

Saying that, easy to say players are not good enough and should be let go, but isn't as easy as that.  With MW's wish to keep a relatively lean squad I don't think we will spend our money on players to sit on the bench. Money will be spent on guys to step in and improve the starting 11. We need more squad players though if we are to sustain a challenge in the SPL, cups and possibly Europe. Squad players historically for us have not been amazing but have been good professionals and committed to the cause ie. won't sit and moan or create problems. Cleland, Bollan, Nisbet, Munro are examples of guys who were technically much poorer players but were massively important for 9IAR. I think Shiels and Law fit into that category, in that they have done OK and wont start many games. Shiels did a real shift for us against Celtic recently and both have done OK this season. They seem to be good pros with decent attitudes and I would not complain if they stayed. However MW may feel he has guys in the reserves that can step up. Reserves would be cheaper but would they have more experience and quality? If that is the case both should be allowed to go.

I would keep Kiernan and Wilson, although they may not be first choice in future. They have definitely made errors which have been well discussed on the forum during the year. I think they often been exposed though due to not having DM cover, and our having very attacking fullbacks. MW has already tried to address that with signing Crooks and I believe he will likely try and improve our defence too.

See I completely disagree, it's the other way around. Kiernan bosses the air to the extent that Keepers just don't bother kicking towards his side of the field and he can kick the ball up the park to McKay 8 times outta 10.

Wilson on the other hand seems slack and just doesn't put in full effort. Both of them are fast enough to keep with a playing and pressure him that's the important thing. and a player that's McKays height is always going to have an easy time juking a 6ft2 guy.

We will have agree to disagree both average players neither good enough or quick enough defensively.

Thought both CB's were pure fucking class against celtic and have been better than decent all season, especially considering they have only made a couple of mistakes in terms of playing it out from the back. I don't think we truly appreciate what a luxury we have that our whole defence are so composed at playing it out and technically able. Saying this, they have both got a mistake in them defensively and can sometimes loose concentration. I definitely think we need a top centre back to challenge them both so they are playing for there place every time they step out on the pitch.

I think they both lack a bit of pace which has caught them out on a few occasions given our style of play and they need to work on recovery and positioning in pre-season. I think a centre half/CDM with more pace/experience will be a priority, I don't think MW wants outfield players to be too specialised so versatility is going to be essential.

On an unrelated note and seeing your location, you could do worse than pop along to Bedford Town to watch a game next season and partake of a drink in the Jock Wallace Suite before/after the game. Its definitely Bear friendly and they play in blue and white. :)

I'm not agreeing to that when I know one of them is good enough to be in the squad.

I don't  think you get me to be honest I meant we see this differently so no point going back and forward on points we are not going to agree on.

every out of contract player will be punted. Obviously all current loan players will be away. I would also let go all of our players that are on loan apart from Thompson and hardie.

Thompson back is he not as he's injured.

Also you do not bring in a CDM just because a CD lacks ability, because the same deficiency remains and all it is, is a sticking plaster.

This formation and system requires a CDM.  Without a CDM the defenders will be caught short as we've seen so often.  We've been shoehorning Ball and Halliday in their all season and neither are good enough.  We'll get one in during the summer and the defence will look a lot better for it.

I'd definitely be looking to keep Ball for another season if we can.

Crooks plays CB and CDM.  Jordan Thompson will also be coming back from loan and he can play CDM.  I doubt we need Ball anymore.

I like Kiernan, his performance against Celtic shows how good he can be, but he needs a better partner.

Ball? I'd hope we would be looking to sign him up for another year if possible.

The rest of the names I agree with.

I like Kiernan and Wilson. They both need a better partner.

there has been widespread speculation that Crooks has been signed as a back up squad player, but time will tell
