Bad Robot 21,137
I know there's another thread about Scottish football being HD but what are the cost and technical implications for the club streaming in HD? Do we need HD cameras and specialist broadcasting equipment? Would it be self-defeating with people stealing free streams and much do you think it's worth per game? If I was overseas or when I can't make Ibrox I would certainly pay at least a tenner for it with a proxy. Im not talking about the commentary but personally I think the current RTV streams are very poor and we should be giving punters more value and to reflect this costs would need to increase. Good post, I mentioned this a while back. The size and quality of our club and fanbase demands that this is now the absolute minimum .Really we should be looking to take the brave step and do 4k streaming. I don't think many would mind paying 15 quid a game overseas if it went towards the cost of paying for some of the equipment. Does anyone know what equipment we need to do this and what the costs would be? Maybe we could setup a fundraiser to at least pay or some part of it.The quality from our media department this season has been outstanding . bombaybadboy08 15,660
The stream quality is pish, I regularly buy the legit ones as I have a proxy, normally hdmi it to the big tv and it looks shite. Would be interested in this too.
allgers 735
Could be wrong but I don't think it's a case off buying new equipment, they just need to buy more bandwidth.

Bad Robot 21,137
I would rather try start a crowdfund for a standing section but would also donate to a similar scheme to upgrade the broaccast.

For HD yes but for 4k they need a 4k camera probably from Pioneer .An HD camera drone would also be great to watch some action from above play as it happens, not very expensive but would capture the imagination

j1mgg 3,766
Would only need HD, but until we can officially show 3pm ko in the UK, or on European football nights, then it is going to be hard to recoup the costs. We have an issue where many people use streams rather than pay the £5 per game, I have even been in packed pubs in Spain/Tenerife that use a illegal stream rather than buy from the club. TMB 14,167
Can you lot stream things at HD without it buffering? If I tried streaming something at 4k I doubt my internet could handle it

No buffering at that time.

Yes seen that myself and they coin it in but maybe it's because it's a low definition then saying that they would probably still steal the hd even though the cost would be minimal compared to the amount of beers the punters will be drinking. saltire266 502
Need about 8Mbps to watch HD stream, anything less and buffering can occur.4K probably 20Mbps and above as a minimum. I know my Orange network in Slovakia is 220Mbps ;-)
Corky True Legend 2,682
Get it on the TV like other big clubs Chelsea, Man U & Liverpool. No problem with freezing or blackouts then. Online only is for second rate clubs.
theiconicman 2,975
Would love to see the club be innovative and make the streaming free for overseas. The money would come from selling advertising. a free HD stream abroad would attract a lot of advertisers given the amount who would watch. GOAT 30,449
The one thing that pisses me off about RTV is why they don't put a score board and timer in the corner, surely it doesn't cost that much to add that, I mean Raith TV and Hibs TV have that fs. PrsosPonytail 170
Robert Boyle @RFC_Rab on Twitter is your man for such questions. It's already been mentioned but he confirmed the addition of a score and time at the top for next season.
