I understand where you are coming from but IMO none of the so called big hitters like France, Germany, Spain, Italy etc were really that great and flattered to deceive throughout. A few decent games and a few decent individual performances apart you could argue that none of those big teams really "deserved" to win. Portugal have a relatively average team with several ageing players and basically done what they had to do to get the job done and whilst they were never great IMO they were consistently solid throughout. Not always pretty on the eye but fair play to them....... delparlane

Captain Hilts 12,819
The Iceland game aside France haven't been anywhere near as good as they should've been considering the squad they have. They let themselves down tonight.

G.E.C. 18,714
Ironically the best game of the whole tournament actually involved Portugal. The 3-3 game with Hungary. siamthedanger

I think the smugness of that prick Ronaldo has clouded my judgment of Portugal throughout the tournament. delparlane and bluedylan

But for cunts like Pepe, Carvahlo, Nani and the younger boys coming through it's a huge achievement. And with reference to your other post, yeah France have been very underwhelming. Late Payet & AG magic in their early games and a resounding result over Iceland merely flattered to deceive IMO. I also felt they were lucky against a German side who also aren't quite what they used to be either. Too many of France's so called big players just didn't perform.
