Gilesy 4
Been thinking about this since the welcome arrival of Barton. Do we think he will be given the armband for the upcoming season, or should Wallace retain it? I'm caught in two minds - Wallace has been superb, love the guy. But has he got the voice and the team listening to him on the park? Or would Barton be a better option? Kinda see him being more like a Ferguson type figure in the middle of the park, barking orders, getting the lads amped up if they go flat. Might need a bit more of that next season. I suppose if the team are playing well as a unit, the armband doesn't mean too much at the end of the day.
Big Al 55 9,248
Wallace absolutely must be the Rangers captain, no question. I'm looking forward to watching Barton and his influence will be massive, but the difference is Wallace has earned the captaincy through his loyalty and commitment to the club. CF2 WINNIE 1,006
Lee Wallace is a Rangers captain and understands the meaning of holding that role. He does also have the respect of all the players and management staff and certainly isn't quiet on the park.

Misteral 2,932
Can't see anyone agreeing with the OP that we should even consider taking the captaincy off Lee Wallace. Sheer madness, IMO.
Inigo 32,526
How about listening to MW and what he says about Wallace's influence? He's closest to the team and knows what his influence is.
TopCat 4,511
Wallace must remain the Captain of Rangers. He has more than earned the privilege.
TheBluebells 6,898
What a betrayal to Wallace that would be. Absolutely no chance, he's our captain.
piperpete 3,186
We haveca legend In the making as Captain at the moment and see no reason what so ever to change this.

VladimirWeiss69 802
Wallace should keep it however Barton will be more of a leader than Wallace will be, the only difference will be that Wallace retains the armband, the more leaders we have on the pitch the better, something which we were considerably lacking this season
50ShadesofBlue 667
Wallace will remain Captain but Barton will be calling the shots in the middle of the park. Exactly what we're missing.
Vanoli 4,625
I don't want to win 55 unless Lee Wallace is the man to lift our trophy.
RFCRobertson 11,778
Wallace will retain the Band, he's earned it. He'll likely boss the back 4, keeping them in check. Wes will (or should be) bossing his box come set pieces and threats. He should be pushing both teammates and opposition aside to get the ball. Barton will boss the midfield, making sure their all putting on sufficient pressure and watching the spaces. Miller will boss the forwards, making them rotate to keep the threat strong.  The team will be like a well oiled machine, no one person is the "leader".
DrLaudrup 4,599
There is not a chance the armband should be or will be removed from Wallace. This would be abysmal behaviour and totally lack Rangers class in every way.
Jack The Flipper 5,936
Barton hasn't earned the armband yet - he's not even played for us yet! Wallace has
40delboy40 248
Lee Wallace has been in for the long haul, more than deserves the armband. Won't hurt to have Joey geeing up the squad though.
harlands plater 16,975
Barton won't be any less vocal on the pitch if Wallace is the captain.

WGOH 2,344
I've said it before, I'll say it again, Lee Wallace is already a Rangers legend in my eyes and no one deserves to lift a major trophy more than that man. 55 will have been special with our without Wallace, but I can't remember a Rangers captain deserving to lead a Rangers team to a title more than him. He stayed for the fight and will forever have the respect and support of the Rangers fans.
