THE RANGERS Academy have recorded their best ever exam results across the board.

The results reflect the commitment and dedication the players have to their studies as well as their football.

Many of those, who were still part-time until this summer, were still training three nights a week, participating in a Thursday day release programme and also had their game at the weekend.

Some of them were at Performance schools a good distance away from their homes, so they had extremely long days.

Some were also part of the homework group run at the training centre every season since 2012, where the players have approximately an hour to do any homework they had before training started.

Very impressive from both Jack Thomson and Lewis Mayo. Well done lads!

16 years of age, getting an A in your exam results and playing for Rangers.

When I was 16, I spent most days sitting in my boxers, playing FIFA and eating pizza and crisps.

With a bit of redtube and pornhub inbetween , what a time it was

I don't really give a shit to be honest it's results on the park that matters to the club. We're a football club not an open university.

Very few make it, I don't think it'd be right for kids to pin their hopes on [making] it, only to be released with no kind of education behind them. It has and will happen to many more, but I find it very noble of the club that they're doing what they can to change that.

Noble in a way but irrelevant in another way - the only benefit I can possibly see is if there's a youngster, highly rated, that is wanted by a few clubs, if we have an education system in place his parents are more likely to let them join us or at least seriously consider us.

But I don't give a shit if they passed their exams. It really is pretty low on the list of things we need to know. Derek Ferguson, Barry Ferguson, Ian Durrant and maybe even Ian Ferguson - I'd be amazed if they even passed any of their exams at school and were some of the best midfielders we've had in modern years.
