Are you not understanding that racism is utterly different to whats happening in Scotland. You 'opinion' is based on conflating two different situations. It really is very very simple to understand.

It's funny that whenever the tims play in Europe, UEFA charge them in just about every game for their fans behaviour

Their fans behave the exact same way for domestic matches but the SFA & Police Scotland don't want anything to do with it...

But a couple Rangers fans use the word fenian and get arrested

Where is the consistency? Where is the level playing field?

Celtic fans wave a terrorist group's banner but let's deflect it as Rangers fans said a bad word. Only in Scotland eh.

Think this shite needs raised and acted upon from every MP and MSP. We should be attending their surgeries and bombarding all of our members of both Parliaments and get them told to raise the subject above and we want this stooped. We really need to get involved PEOPLE.

I hope your correct but I'm not certain that there's a level playing field.

They wave flags against football supporters from Israel showing a Palestinian grim reaper and chanting songs, these fans needed a police escort into the stadium yet there is no news reports on any arrests infact a politician has a motion in Parliament supporting these fans.

When you read through the list of names in the link above why am i not surprised Rangers fans are being picked on. Will say it again people. We need to get organised in all walks of life from local councils through to media.

Agree. I've sent an email to my local mp. This msp should be facing anti-semitsm charges by showing support for a group of supporters waving a flag showing a Palestinian grim reaper against a group of football fans from Israel . This is bigger than football. It's disgusting.

The Jews are a race as well as a religion and the fan wasn't jailed. As the report states Spurs fans (they have a very large Jewish following) have been singing Yid Army for years. Some of my friends (one works for the Jewish Chronicle) are Spurs fans and sing it regularly, it was a stupid over reaction by one over zealous officer. Major difference to what I've seen at Ibrox.

Its odd the anti-semites at Parkhead get free reign. Only in Scotland.

Still not producing the required evidence. Have you lived and attended non-Rangers games outside Scotland ever?

I'm afraid you are wrong about Jews being a "race". If that were true, how do you account for the Falasha jews of Ethiopia?

Me and genetics apparently!

You are aware of the migration of the Jews into Africa?

A study published by the National Academy of Sciences stated that "The results support the hypothesis that the paternal gene pools of Jewish communities from Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East descended from a common Middle Eastern ancestral population, and suggest that most Jewish communities have remained relatively isolated from neighboring non-Jewish communities during and after the Diaspora."Researchers expressed surprise at the remarkable genetic uniformity they found among modern Jews, no matter where thediaspora has become dispersed around the world.

You would like to think people are getting arrested for more than just singing a song but I know a young lad who was arrested for just that. He was arrested during a game at Ibrox, randomly plucked out of the crowd who were also singing, spent the weekend in jail and appeared in court on the Monday and has to return not knowing if he will have to spend time in prison or whether he will be kicked out of his apprenticeship all for singing a song at a football match.

Seems harsh and would like to think not true ( while not casting aspersions on your set of events - as every paper story that says fined for singing TBB when you read it there is always more to it than that.

Still refusing to believe the facts!!!

A Rangers fan who was arrested for sectarian singing while on his way to attend a game against Celtic has been jailed for four months.

Scott Lamont, from Glasgow, was heard singing the words of the Billy Boys song on Cathcart Road on 1 February.

The 24-year-old admitted the charge at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

He was also given an 18-month football banning order and told his behaviour would not be tolerated.

Sheriff Paul Crozier told Lamont's lawyer, Joanne Gray: "Glasgow has developed a good reputation in recent years.

"We had the Commonwealth Games last summer, we haven't had an Old Firm game in years.

"What happened at the first Old Firm game? People like him let Glasgow down."

'Ruin football'

The sheriff described the words to the song as "inflammatory" an said it "could have led to horrendous violence".

He told Lamont: "Your conduct on 1 February was the sort of conduct that the authorities had asked football loving fans to refrain from.

"A message has to be sent to those people who would choose to ruin football for the vast majority who want to go to these games, that you cannot behave like this.

"This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated, certainly not by me."

Another man, Alexander Blood, from Saltford in Somerset, was given a community payback order after admitting acting in a racially aggravated manner.

Blood swore at police officers and called them "Jock".

As part of the order he will be supervised for 18 months and must carry out 160 hours of unpaid work.

He was also given a three year football banning order.

Then maybe the two guys should be contacted and show a new liaison committee what their arrest charges are. That way the truth gets out. The song should be taken to court and challenged, focus made a statement that this had never been done.

Agreed

Arev you saying that Scott Lamont wasn't jailed for singing TBB, even though its the only thing mentioned in the BBC Report? Surely any thuggery by a Rangers fan would be highlighted?

Kinda proves my point - a badly written article ( I assume from the record?) being selective in reporting and our fans buying into it big time as 'proof'
