NorthUistBear 86
Matt Gilks has played in every game in the League Cup so far and has not conceded a goal yet. 2 questions Wes or Gilks 1. Who would you choose? And why? 2. Who will Warbs choose? i would stick with Gilks just for the reason he has played well and should continue as our 'cup keeper'
left winger 14,102
Pick the best keeper. It's that simple. At the moment, it's Foderingham.
Bluenose1986 703
If Gilks got the nod he certainly couldn't be any worse than the game at the piggery.
ShanksRFC 3,867
I had a dream last night Wes made a fuck up so i'm going for Gilks
Supersonic 4,654
Both more than capable so I can't say I'm bothered who Warburton picks. I'd let Gilks have a shot though - like to see him tested properly I'm more worried that Kiernan ends up on the team sheet
RFC16 226
Id choose foderingham as he is slightly better keeper Think gilks will play though as he prob been told he will play all league cup games regardless of opposition
Turnberry18 3,204
I really don't like this cup teams/league teams situation. I can see the point if it's lower league teams and we want to utilise the full squad, but I wouldn't like if it was formalised. Foderingham should play in this match. SeparateEntityMyArse 53,608
Gilks. He gets cup games. If wes gets the nod it shows MWs talk about trusting and believing in his squad to be bull.

Prso's headband 35,306
Gilks hasn't done much wrong but he also hasn't been tested. Fod played absolutely quality that game and has saved us a couple of times already this season. So for that it has to be Fod
eskbankloyal 19,446
Foderingham played played in 2 of the league cup group stage games.

I would say the benefits of winning this match could be huge, and so I thought we might use our best 11.
DavieAyrshire 244
Simple for me you play your best goalkeeper and thats fod. This game you go with the strongest
bluewhitevanman 1,619
It should be gilks. This wouldn't be up for discussion if were playing any other team so for that reason he should be playing
NixonRFC 1,308
The best keeper should play in the biggest games always

Wes as the man in the normal starting 11, Gilks as the one who had been cup comp nominated goalie according to him. I'm really not that fussed, don't think there's much between them. Do think it is a slap in face for Gilks if he has had a guarantee of sorts. It's a decent topic but probably the position causing least concern at the moment ? VladimirWeiss69 802
For those saying Wes is the better keeper, what is that based on because from what I have seen from both of them so far I would say Gilks is more than capable from what I have gathered. Gilks seems a lot better at commanding the area, better with the ball at his feet and has quicker distribution than Wes, dont really know what his shot stopping is like but I am sure we will find out. Wes doesn't have very good accuracy with his passing at all tbh and takes an age to pick someone out to set us on the counter. Both are decent keepers but as of now I wouldn't say one is better than the other!

Foderingham has made some very important saves, the kind that are akin to us scoring a goal at times; and he did so in the last match. That is not taking away anything from Gilks, but Foderingham has been one of our best players, never mind our best goalkeeper.
