Rangers players and manager Mark Warburton have visited fans involved in a fatal bus crash at the weekend.

The supporters club whose coach was involved in the crash on Saturday on the way to Ibrox issued a "sincere thanks" to Wartburton, his players, backroom staff and directors for the support they had offered.

Ryan Baird, 39, from Sanquhar, died after the coach overturned and crashed into a verge near a roundabout on the A76 in Ayrshire on Saturday afternoon.

The bus, which crashed injuring 18 people, three seriously, at the Crossroads roundabout near to Bowhouse Prison just outside Mauchline, was on its way to the stadium when it crashed at about 1.15pm.

Nith Valley Loyal Rangers Supporters Club revealed Rangers had been in daily contact with them and Mr Baird's family since the crash.

Four players also visited the remaining two injured supporters in hospital while Warburton and another two players, along with managing director Stewart Robertson, paid a visit to the supporters club's base on Tuesday evening.

A statement from Nith Valley Loyal said: "The club would like to offer our sincere thanks to everyone at Rangers Football Club for everything they've done in supporting Ryan's family and the survivors of Saturday's terrible tragedy.

"Managing director Stewart Robertson, the manager, assistant manager and two first team players met with our supporters at the Deerhunter yesterday and four first team players visited our two members still in Crosshouse Hospital.

"These visits have been valuable in helping our members, especially the youngsters, start to come to terms with what has happened.

"Rangers directors have been in touch with us and the family daily. The Nith Valley Loyal and our community will never forget what they've done for us. Thank you Rangers."

Tributes for Mr Baird and messages of support for the family have flooded in since Saturday.

His partner, Sarah Hughes, paid tribute to him saying he had loved the club and cousin Louise Evanne Baird said he was "amazing" and would be "sadly missed".

The coach was taking fans to Ibrox Stadium, where Rangers played Partick Thistle in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Cousin Ms Baird said on Facebook: "It hasn't sunk in yet. RIP to my incredible cousin Ryan who sadly passed away in the Rangers bus crash today.

"You were an amazing cousin and you will be sadly missed. I am trying to think of all our happy memories that we shared and how you were always there for me no matter what.

"Thoughts go out to the rest of my family at this time. Still can't believe it."

A total of 36 passengers and the driver were on board the bus at the time of the crash. Police said inquiries are continuing and appealed for information.
