heathen fish boy 8,572
On Saturday the 12th of April 2014 I went to IbroxStadium to support my club Dundee United intheir William Hill Scottish Cup Semi-final matchvs Rangers. What happened to me after thematch was frightening and left me severelyshaken. After the match which Dundee United won I leftthe stadium along with my father(a 67 year old)who regularly accompanies me to United gamesdespite being a Rangers supporter himself. Wevacated the Govan Stand to make our way hometogether but unfortunately the Police hadcordoned off part of Edminston Drive. I asked thePolice for alternative directions as our car wasparked in St Andrews Drive we were told by anofficer that we could walk down Broomloan Roadand along Woodville Street and back round thatway to Edmiston Drive as it was not cordonedoff. This was the worst advice we could havebeen given. The walk back started well with lots of Rangersand Dundee United fans making their way homehowever when we turned onto Copland Roadthings took a turn for the worse. I was punchedfull force in the back of the head which led me tostumble and left me very shaken indeed, I didn’tknow what had happened until my Father told meI had been hit by a Rangers supporter, there werethree of them and each one of them was carryinga glass bottle. I asked one of them why they haddone this and his reply was that I deserved it, oneof the culprits apologised for his fellow supportersactions before running off. I could so easily havebeen killed by a punch to the back of the head.My Father who was not wearing any colours wasleft absolutely disgusted with what he had justwitnessed and was left very shaken and worriedabout our safety, the attack was unprovoked andof a cowardly and serious nature and I wasunable to defend myself.I tried to locate a Police officer but there werenone in attendance at that part of the Stadiumwhich I found extremely odd, however we decidedit was best for us to get home as quickly aspossible. That evening I phoned Police Scotland to makethem aware of the attack and they visited myhome in Glasgow to take a statement. I informedthem exactly of what happened and asked them ifthere was CCTV located in the area where theattack had taken place, their reply to me waseven if there was it would be difficult to catch theculprits however they would look into this for me.The next day I decided to contact my club DundeeUnited about this and also Rangers FC, DerekRobertson a Director at Dundee United replied tome via email to say how sorry he was to hearabout the attack and informed me that he wouldcontact the clubs Head of Security to make himaware of the incident, I had no response fromRangers FC.On Sunday night I was still in complete shock atwhat had happened and was still contemplatingwhether or not to attend football matches again. The following day I contacted Derek Robertsonagain about the attack but was informed by himthat it was now a Police incident and there wasnothing he could do, I was left surprised by thisas I have been a Dundee United supporter forover 33 years and had hoped they would supportme in highlighting the incident. He hoped that Iwould reconsider my decision about attendinggames again as “we had a rather important gameon the 17th of May”.Later that day I gave a well known tabloid mystory about the incident but was later advised byboth family and friends not to go ahead with thisdue to possible repercussions against myself butmore importantly my young family, I alsoinformed Dundee United about this.On the Tuesday after the match I decided tocontact the SFA regarding the incident what ahuge mistake that was, I spoke with the newHead of Security Peter McLaughlin who asked me” What do you want me to do about it ? ” I toldhim that the Police had given us the wrongadvice regarding directions that endangered mylife and told him that it was a ludicrous decisionto hold the match at Ibrox Stadium, I alsoinformed him that it was only a matter of timebefore an innocent football supporter was killeddue to this kind of violence, his stance was it wasa Police matter.I have informed Dundee United of the SFA’sresponse but I have not heard back from themregarding this as yet.I believe that I was attacked because I am aDundee United supporter(yes I was wearing ascarf) and because of an ongoing disputebetween the clubs. The clubs have not had thebest of relationships for a good few years nowwhich has been well documented in the Mediaand I believe I was the innocent party caught inthe crossfire, I feel like ” I took one for theChairman”.I have to be honest and say that I do agree withmost things that Stephen Thompson has saidsince becoming Chairman of the club butsupporters of Rangers FC don’t agree and seemto feel angered by his comments and actions forsome reason. There was also a lot of talk in the media theweek prior to the match about the chosen venuefor the game and security issues surrounding it.I have to agree and I think the SFA got itseriously wrong by holding the match a Ibrox forboth security reasons ,which affected myself andfrom a football point of view too.Today i contacted Dundee United and spoke withBev Anderson who was quite sympatheticregarding my situation, I was told that somebodywould call me back to discuss the incident inmore detail, somebody higher up would have tospeak to me.I phoned the club again later on in the afternoonas I hadn’t heard back from anyone and spokewith a gentleman called Spence Anderson(Company Secretary) , I asked him if he wasaware of incident and he informed me that hewas but it was now a police incident and therewas nothing the club could do because of this, Iasked him could the club not issue a statementinforming people that one of their supporters hadbeen assaulted directly outside Ibrox Stadium ?His response was “it happened on the street itwas a police matter” I explained to him that Icould have been killed, his reply to this was ” Butyour weren’t were you” I then informed him that Ithought it was only a matter of time before asupporter was badly injured or killed at a matchbetween the two clubs. He didn’t seem interestedin my situation at all and I told him “I thought theclub would at least support me after the 33 yearsof my life that I have spent supporting DundeeUnited Football Club” before I put the phone downin disgust.I have to this day still had no response fromRangers FC about this incident despite contactingthem about this, I firmly believe that most decentRangers fans would not condone what happenedto me and would sympathise with my situation.I should be looking forward to watching my clubplay in the Scottish Cup Final in May but now iam left feeling isolated by my Club and the SFAand completely shaken by the whole incidentwhich had taken place at Ibrox Stadium.I am a victim of football violence which has in themeantime driven me away from supportingScottish Football.I must also ask the SFA a very simple question,Why were one group of supporters not keptbehind in the stadium to avoid potential trouble ?I would like to remind the Police, the SFA andboth clubs that behind every supporter’s scarfthere is a Person, a life and a Family, I myselfhave 20 month old twins who I may not haveseen again because of this incident. Will I hear back from the Police? I doubt it is myanswer to that. But there is always hope. The end.

BlueSuedeSambas 53,749
It's bullshit if he was attacked unprovoked in the street, especially from behind, but christ sake what a carry on he's holding about it.You would also think that if he lives in Glasgow then he would know better than to walk down the Copland Road wearing any colours at all. If he was just wearing a scarf I'm sure he could have taken it off and put it in a jacket pocket.

ArchibaldLeitch 380
I bet if we delve into this individuals background there will be an array of "incidents"Sounds like one lot of shite from a serial complainer. The lengths he is going to plus his stance that his club owes him a favour for 33 years support speaks volumes.Where is this from?
