European Commission seek explanation on Celtic land deals

Recommended Posts

It was apparently brought up on radio clyde, the reply was that the loans etc were all legal, a bit like EBT's I thought at the time, however that misses the point. State Aid investigations and FFP rules don't care if these financial dealings are legally set up, they care if it can be proven to provide financial benefit to the club. In this case I think it is pretty clear that it has and also, given the ruling of LNS etc., it was a process which others could not have taken advantage of and therefore may constitute and unfair sporting advantage.

Well at least they mentioned it. The loan itself isn't really the problem from what I have read its land being sold under value plus then being revalued at higher prices to obtain the loan. All very dodgy and certainly does create a sporting advantage for the benefactors.

Dear Sir/Madam

I have recently been made aware of a blog raising questions on several land deals involving Celtic Football Club.

There are a number of questions raised about the value of land sold by public bodies to Celtic FC, ie the sales of London Road Primary School and Westhorn to Celtic by Glasgow City Council, and the sale of Lennox Castle Hospital from the Greater Glasgow Health Board to Celtic.

The blog is here, with a number of references therein

One other public body, the Valuation Office Agency was also mentioned in a recent report of one of the transactions

http://www.heraldsco...0-deal.22932938

Given some of the analysis on that blog suggests that the sales may have been under market value, and in one instance may have (conveniently) been below a threshold (£500k) that would require a higher level of authority to approve the sale (Lennox Castle), I would ask that the Audit Office conduct a thorough examination of these transactions.

Please also note that one site today is reporting that the European Commission is investigating these land deals, while the Conservative Government at Westminster is also reportedly seeking answers on the activities of the Co-Operative Bank.

Could you please advise what course of action you plan to take with regards to these transactions?

Thanks

Kind Regards

James Baillie

Willhelm - are you ok for me to take that template and post it elsewhere?

Thats my take on it, the legality part is a bit of a smoke screen, as has been discussed in Spain.

To all the guys who kept up the pressure, well done. A victory of sorts so far. Now it is up to the rest of us Worldwide to keep the pressure on. Especially with Labour/ Co-op Bank under the table deals. We can win this case if we stand united. What a wonderful day that will be. Believe me, the tide is turning.

I really, really hope that something comes of this.

More so that I want them to be found out as lying hypocrites and knocked off their pedestal rather than any punishment following findings of guilt.

I wonder, what would the SPFL decide as a fitting punishment?

With this and the political storm over the coop and labour party deals, now us the time for the Rangers support to mobilise and do anything in our power to ensure every wee detail and dodgy practice is highlighted so the powers that be have no scope to sweep this under the carpet or give them an easy out.

They did it to us, so we should not hesitate to kick them when the opportunity presents.

That would be karma.

Shurely you meant kharma?????????

Fucksake, what's up with you? The more we can collar these cunts the better, or would you rather we all just did "sweep sweep" We've had nothing but shite thrown at us for 2 fucking years, and all you can you say is " who gives a fuck", if you don't like the post or the contents then too fucking bad!

I'd rather we focused on our own mess of a club, than worry about what that shower of shite are up to. If they've broke laws or regulations, don't worry they'll get found out. Who cares though?
