The Educator 1,572
I don't know if anybody else has posted regarding this, but tomorrow Renfrewshire Council will vote on an agreement with St Mirren to have their ground renamed Paisley 2010 Stadium as part of their push for the City of Culture bid. It is estimated that this will bring in about £30,000 a year from the public purse. Having seen how the Commonwealth Games bid was manipulated to put money into c****c are we now seeing the same happening with St Mirren? Redwhiteandblue 3,330
I wonder what would have happened had Charles Green and co actually managed to slip under the st midden radar and bought that club? Anyone any ideas on what they were planning?
The Educator 1,572
No different from stadium sponsorship, so no.Why at a time of austerity should a team in the second tier of Scottish football be getting £30,000 a year of our council tax money? St Mirren park is a small, but tidy ground on the outskirts of Paisley, it's hardly a buzzing hub of society within Paisley at the best of times. I'll be honest in that I personally don't see how this venue can be perceived as being cultural in any way.
cushynumber 25,178
its built on scrub land on the outskirts of paisley and you wouldn't go near it for anything else than the football
