mitre_mouldmaster 21,509
I have to laugh on here at times with the level of hypocricy shown by some of our fans. They absolutely detest those players who decided to reject the TUPE transfer and cancel their contracts. On the next thread they are calling Ally all the names under the sun and an enemy of the club for earning so much money because he carried his contract over from the old company. You cant have it both ways, if you try you are just being a hypocrite.Oh, and for the record, Ally is paid far too much IMO. ritchieshearercaldow 22,123
A wee bit of a difference, Ally stayed without losing a penny, the players probably knew they'd be on a wage cut and didn't fancy the job ahead, plus they knew they could get another job, Ally didnt

Starving Hagler 38
Each and every decision was based on self interest with the exception of Lee Wallace. If Lee McCulloch and Neil Alexander had been in their mid 20's they would have fucked off too! In the final analysis, we would have to have sold them anyway because we simply could not pay many of them in excess of 20k per week. The argument was the transfer fees. The question - would those fees still be in the accounts right now? At the end of the day everyone will have their opinion on it. Some of it more 'emotional' than some others.Let the vitriol begin! madbear 4
like everyone else i was very angry at all the players leaving. but did they not have an agreement that after taking a 75% wage cut if the club was liquidated they were allowed to leave

Pure_Quality 3,295
The board should have held discussions with anyone who TUPE'd over after 12 months, as legally that's the limit of time when your terms are protected by.Whoever was the chief executive at that time should have explored that option and if they didn't were careless at best, negligent at worst. That could have saved a bloody fortune, and potentially given an option to dismiss under GM if the new terms were not acceted.Happens in many, many other organisations. Tontospal 1,116
The only real Rangers men are the fans as they put their money in to the club whether that be for season tickets, merchandise, shares etc.If the players, coaches and manager had the true interests of the club and fans at heart they would have played/worked for nothing or for vastly reduced contracts. As it is they have mostly justified their stance (whether they left, stayed or joined) based on the fact that others have taken money from the club (directors etc) so why shouldn't they.I am not saying they should have played for nothing as they were/are professional people at a top club, I am saying if they were real fans, like us, they would have played/worked for nothing. Starving Hagler 38
I see. How do you know what he was paid at Palace?Yes or No, would Palace pay a reserve goalie who had limited options and was over 30 more than 13k a week?I know you don't know either but have a guess - yes or no

BearJohn 62
Think the point thats being made about allys wages is correct he is on to much even after halving his wages. As for the players that left naismith and co yhere fucking traitors no real rangers men and as for them staying and earning big wages they didnt need to stay they could still have left, but if they had stayed we would have got money for them instead of fuck all
Jimfanciesthedude 24,482
So you think that Goian and Boca are selfish bastards as well?no because they gave us a chance of receiving a fee for them, even if it was minimal, it was our choice to pay them off instead of perhaps trying to negotiate a new reduced salary contract with themas it stands our gracious gaffer has reportedly only deferred his pay cut, if/when he gets the dan mack he'll reportedly get every fucking penny back, and his shares are worth a cushy wee amount
