If that was a snapshot of the top of the Premiership

If that was a snapshot of the top of the Premiership, then I do not think we have a massive gulf in class to overcome.

While we are not the team we were before administration, it's clear that the others have dipped too.

Should the other lot win their game in hand, they'd merely equal the 13 points in 6 games that 3 other teams possess.

We might have a wee bit to go, in the Scottish context, but I am seeing no great chasm of ability between us and the "top" teams.

Our decline hit everyone, but we are, stutteringly, progressing and improving.

Catching up with and overtaking these teams will not be some insurmountable challenge.

And we are not a Club to shirk our challenges.

Have no doubt. We shall overcome the hurdles in front of us.

ICT match was much hyped as our biggest game of the season. It's a one off game and we proved we can handle that. However, so was the cup final last season and we bottled it. The biggest danger to our promotion this term and our well being next term (dv) is complacency, consistency and fan expectancy.

Better to take one game at a time rather than look to far ahead. The manager, the team and especially the fans must remain grounded and realise that although we have had a decent start, that injuries, supensions, poor form, not to mention the off field circus will all have a bearing on how succesfull we can be. A good cup run would be nice and will lift the spirits of everyone involved at the club but this season will be difficult and at some stage we will hit a sticky patch.

But so far so good (tu):ulster:

after the start Inverness have had I think last night shows there's only 3 teams for us to worry about next season. Celtic Aberdeen and DU.

We are so so bad when we don't have possesion though. Good teams will control games against us no bother.

Want an SPL side at home again if we can deal with Falkirk. Ideally play a few this season to really get a gauge of where we're at.

I wouldn't read too much into the tims points total, they prioritised Europe( ) and ICT beat what was their second string team.

Agree with the rest of your post though, what remains to be seen is will celt*c spent a fortune to keep us at bay on our return to the top league, or are they genuinely in the shit due to this State Aid thing ?

We have a fair few players out of contract soon too so if we don't resign them, what sort of mess does it leave us in?

Providing we get promoted, I think the summer transfer window is very important for us ideally I wanted us to be able to spend maybe £3-5million but at the moment it looks like we won't have much money if any at all to spend. As we are I think with a hard push we could finish second, a couple of quality signings and we could honestly challenge but it'd still be a tough ask.

If we consistently keep up this form we'll have no problem adapting to top flight IMO even though we obviously won't be as strong.

Reading the posts on here highlights the importance of having money to spend for next season assuming we make it. So for all those who haven't renewed, think long and hard about what you are doing to our club and don't dare complain if we don't buy any new players because we've no money. It's your own fault.

We've improved on last season in terms of squad ability but let's not overreact to last night we are a long way from winning the title still.

Our squad would need revamped big time and Celtic last season got 99 points which was the highest points tally anyone has got since 2002 so let's not kid ourselves (tu)

The gap between the top of Scottish football and the bottom is not as big as many had claimed/thought/hoped...

Currently it's possibly the smallest margin in a very long time. The main difference being consistency.

Is this not what Jig said? And he got laughed at.

We were the better team last night but we have still some work to do, time will tell

Celtic got 99 points in a league with no competition.

Celtic got 99 points in a league with no competition.

How many points do you think we'd get in that league if we had our squad now that played everyone there bar Celtic?

Much less than 99. You're right the tally Celtic accumulated needs to be taken in the context that we weren't around but let's not pretend we're ready at this point in time to win the league - we are still a long way off.

Closer than we were? Definetly but still a long way to go (tu)
