Corky True Legend 2,682
89 minutes played at the piggery with Rangers leading 2 - 1 when a loose ball deep in Rangers' half is chased by 2 septic forwards and 1 Rangers defender who gets there first. Would you rather he tried to play the ball out of defence, pass back to West to try to get a new attack started or hoof the ball out of play as far upfield as possible? For me, the hoof is the answer as the other options give the chance of an equaliser.I tried to set up this as a poll but after 3 attempts gave up. If someone wants to do so, go ahead.
hammer93 15,056
Their is a time and a place to play from the back but that would not be one of them, it would be a case of clearing your lines for me.
StornowayBlue 630
The hoof option is the only one likely to guarantee the opposition get control of the ball. I'd try and play out if the option presented itself, otherwise return to our competent ball-playing Goalkeeper

A Gallant Pioneer 555
Play a 1 two with the keeper taking out both attackers, hit a 30 yards pass with outside of boot wide to Waghorn who runs onto it roulettes around Izaguirre, hits by line, cuts back to Oduwa who, one on one with the keeper, rainbow flicks it over Gordon and into the net for 3-1. Warburtons Rangers!
StornowayBlue 630
so where does the ball go with your hoof scenario? You need to have more faith in our Keeper to deal with the situation. On the evidence I've seen so far, I'm confident in both the big Keeper and Defenders to maintain possession and prevent the equaliser.

Sket 13,610
So basically keep possession so they have absolutely no chance of scoring or boot the ball away, hand them possession on a plate and give them another chance to come at us.Hmmmm, that's a hard one.... scottyscott1963 18,208
"IF" this was the scenario in our next game against them "i would love it" to be keep posession, but in my heart i would be bawling at the top of my voice "GET F'N SHOT" and my nerves would be shot to fuck. Why would you want to give it back to them? This just smacks of "I don't trust our defence. Who is with me?"Edit: I see you outed your motivation before I posted. Dazzler 2,428
Play the ball the way you are facing. If it needs hoofed let the keeper hoof it. If playing it out is an option then let him try it.

To Be A Ranger 4,032
Back to big Wes to perform a couple of step overs and a dummy that sends the scum forwards falling over on their arses. The big man calmly passes to one of our defenders then belts out a verse of the Sash. legalbeagle 3,734
Is he facing forwards or backwards, central or wide, how close is he to the goalie and how close are the forwards?Rather than hoof up the pitch, could he also hit it high out for a throw-in so that we could get our defenders all back in position? bombaybadboy08 15,660
Pass it to Wes who will either give it back to the defender or pick someone out further up the park, ball possession is key, especially when defending a lead so late in the match. A punt could land right at one of their midfielders who will just bring it forward again.Leathering it out of play gives them a chance to bring the cavalry forward. ritchieshearercaldow 22,123
I don't like the keeper humping it up the park, more times than not we just lose possession but there's no best way sometimes you just have to get it up the park quickly. King Jela 20,360
2-1, as in we conceded a goal in this hypothetical scenario ?Not good enough. Warburton out
Bad Robot 21,139
I think it gets put back to the keeper as we've still got the 5 minutes injury time after the scum fans invaded the field and tried to attack Oduwa for his disrespectful behaviour in ripping the piss for the 2nd goal. TheMotor 2,208
I'll trust well-coached Rangers players to do the right thing and out-play two ronnie-coached beasts and set-up the third goal. I'd hate to live in a hypothetical world where the beasts are trusted to do better than the bears in that scenario.
