Rangers coasted into the third round of the Scottish League Cup with a 5-0 victory over Airdrieonians on Wednesday night.

Having beaten Peterhead in the first round, Rangers notched yet another win, hammering Airdreonians away from home, in convincing fashion to set up a home tie with St. Johnstone in the next round.

Goals from Nicky Clark, Andy Halliday, Martyn Waghorn, Dean Shiels and James Tavernier handed Rangers a superb victory, handing manager Mark Warburton his seventh win in his first seven games in charge.

Rangers players took to Twitter after the game to comment on the result, with goalscorers Tavernier and Halliday both celebrating their strikes in the win.

Recent signings from Tottenham Nathan Oduwa and Dominic Ball, who started the game, also reacted to the result and praised Rangers' famous supporters.

Manager Warburton even used the social media site to send a message to fans, thanking them for travelling in such big numbers.

Here are some of the reactions from Rangers players - and their manager - on Twitter following Wednesday's 5-0 thrashing of Airdrieonians in the Scottish League Cup second round.

This is the Rangers we all wanted.

This is the Rangers we all know and love.

We don't need to cover thousands of empty seats with huge banners saying " a club like no other" We can fill our stadium.

We are a remarkable club with tremendous traditions and a magnificent history, a support support second to none.

How can you not love the Rangers?

dominic ball is really growing on me, he looks an absolute class player and easily see why spurs rate him highly

Do they?

I've seen a few Spurs fans say they don't rate him at all.

I think if he has a good season with us the chances of us keeping him are pretty high considering his contract runs out this summer.

Decisons made in just a few months have brought us all as close to our club as it had been for many years.

For the first time in well over 5 years I am genuinly excited to see us playing football, and for the first time since the 2010/11 season have I felt our squad as close as this.

The beauty of it is.... a majority of our players are British. They all understand the type of football, the passion and know that supporters should be appreciated.

The recipe we've been dealt with has been really good. Like a fine wine, give it time and it will become better and better.

We Are The People.

There is a growing bond between the players, the staff and fans, long may that continue. Throughout this season, through thick and thin we must maintain and nurture this unique relationship.

There's Not A Team Like The Glasgow Rangers

No Not One, And There Never Shall Be One

7000 away support? Haha Airdrie are a fucking joke!!!

In what way are they a joke?

They are a small club who are lucky enough to have a very good stadium, but only an average attendance of around 800.

It was commendable, and good business for them to make the common sense decision to give Rangers a large allocation of tickets, rather than have it played in an almost empty stadium in order to spite us.

Can you feel that?.... Everything is changing, the teams we are playing against are starting to applaud the way we are going about our business. Sections of the media are being positive about us... In fact when was the last negative story about us printed? And the illusions that have surrounded Celtic are slowly starting to fall away....

Our relentless procession to retake our throne has begun and right now I doubt even an act of God would be able to stop us, it's very early days but it's a great time to be a bear.

I know who the fucking joke is, and it isn't Airdrie.

Rangers and Airdrie have a long history where Airdrie players starred for Rangers AND when we were getting kicked from fucking pillar to post by the rest of Football the Airdrie chairman stood up for us.

Give a little club credit for giving us a majority of the tickets and for the small band who came to support Airdrie while at the same time appreciating the skill of the Rangers players.

They knew they had a snowballs chance in hell of getting anywhere near us but still came to watch.
