johnOban 64
Were the contracts cancelled by mutual consent or did they take a % of contract to leave? Hearing conflicting statements so would like to know. Cheers
Walking On Water 35
Both confirmed by the club as mutual termination so would say no.

A Gallant Pioneer 555
Paid off or not it's great business by the club to get bits of deadwood out the door.
piperpete 3,186
I would imagine they got a pay off, they would have agreed compensation over the remainder of the contract saving the club a fortune and allowing the players to find another club
mitre_mouldmaster 21,509
Yea they probably were. Both the statements you mention need not be mutually exclusive. Its perfectly possible for their contract to be terminated by mutual consent after agreeing a termination package. That is pretty much the norm.
Courtyard Bear 41,357
I would've thought they got a percentage of their remaining contract.

Inigo 32,526
Yeah. Percentage. No big deal. Paying someone (that the current manager would not have played, his having had nothing to do with bringing the player in) off at a percentage seems reasonable way to go about things. Terry Hurlock Loyal 12,133
They had no future, so pay off an immediate % of their contract rather than have the players around the club on a full contract and other costs. Seems the sensible way to pay off a couple of McCoist legacy signings, saving money inbthe long run.

We Will Follow Rangers 12,915
It will still mean significant savings for the club also it will be excellent for squad morale when everyone there knows they will be involved.
Turnberry18 3,204
I think it's a matter of respect from the manager. He will not have players sitting around with a false hope of getting a game if he as no intention of playing them, so it's best for all concerned, for their sake as well, if they go. It comes across that Mark Warburton is a player's manager; he treats players properly, and it would appear he was fully honest with the players he released, and most probably wished them well. Any other way of treating a player would not only be disrespectful, but it would be immature as well; and that doesn't look to be this manager's style. Londonderry_Bear 111
Mutual consent means both parties agreed to the termination, the terms of the cancellation probably won't be known until the mid-term accounts in January but I would imagine they both left with some sort of payoff

I guess I just blanked out last season to the back of my mind, forgetting some of the good points such as McGregor.
