Peter Houston Post-Match

Granted it might be the rule but the ref can use a bit of common sense. If it had been the goalkeeper with a ripped jersey, would he have insisted he left the park?

No, because goalkeepers are exempt from leaving the field. Includes when they get treated for injuries.

Its FIFA who have taken away the 'common sense' application much of the time. But I'll repeat........ the officials were shite (and that's from an ex-ref)

He is correct on one thing, the reffing was shocking yesterday.

It was shocking we didn't get a penalty, it was shocking that some of the falkirk players didn't get booked, some of the offsides were shocking.

There was no real bias though IMO, they were just bad at their jobs.

The officials were shocking yesterday BUT Kiernans shirt was ripped and had to be replaced (however the rip happened).

A player must leave the pitch to rectify the fault/missing equipment (shirt/shorts/shinpads etc).

A player who leaves the pitch can only be let back on when the ball is next out of play (that's why it took so long to get him back on)

Cmon guys...ref was shite......but that's the rules for leaving/entering pitch.

Players get waved back on by a referee when ball is in play all the time, punishing a team when someones shirt is ripped off their back by making them play with 10 men is ridiculous especially a defender when other team has a corner and they haven't even taken it yet

refereeing decisions only helped Falkirk, Falkirk players should have been sent off and had penalties given in the 4th minute given for Rangers. How the hell did one of their players manage to pull Kiernan's shirt so bad that it actually ripped off his back, yet no foul given? If that happened to a Falkirk player i'm sure baldie here would be making interviews on BBC news about it etc. lol

dry your eyes baldie, yous lost to the greatest team in Scotland get over it

Teams will just start ripping the shirt of the biggest aerial threats if that was the standard way to handle it.

I'm sure I've seen players not leave the pitch and the jerseys are exchanged by throwing to and from the dugout.

Quick change. restart game.

Making a player go off then making him wait for a while after he's ready seems stupid. Going off the pitch and waiting to come back on was brought in to counter players feigning injury.

It shouldn't be used in this way.

I agree Oleg...the other week an opposition player lost his shinpad....he had to go off to put it back on (and wait to come back on).....its crazy.....but some refs will do it 'as per' and some wont.

Its the old 'consistency' question that riles players and fans alike.

true, where is the consistency.

If a referee chooses to disobey the rules for one rule (such as to let the player back on early), what's stopping a referee from disobeying any other rules such as not stopping play for an injured Rangers player etc.

I doubt in the rulebook it says 'Referees may choose not to follow this rule at their own discretion' or something that lets the referees act in a different manner to the rule such as letting a player back on early.

Peter "Don't go to Rangers, Goodwillie" Houston? Guy is a genuine cretin. His players kicked lumps out of our team yesterday and should have had a player sent off and a few extra yellows and we got fucked over for the GK handling the ball outside the box and not getting a clear penalty. Aye the referees were shite but to say its because there is a bias towards us is mind bogglin. Bitter nappy ripping cunt.

I sit in SW1 right next to the away dug out, me and the misses always stay and applaud our players off the pitch so i see this horrible cunt going tonto at the officials and the ref waiting for the polis to escort him off the pitch and Houston was right in his face shouting and screaming but also rubbing his fingers in a motion that can only suggest that the ref had taken a bribe, surely the SFA must look into that ffs.

Although that may be true, he was our CB and they hadn't resumed play for their corner by the time he had a replacement shirt on so they could have easily let back on to the field of play before the corner was taken.

For about six months after we started in the third division I agreed with that Gogzy but going week after week and seeing the absolutely shocking decisions that have went against us I now firmly believe that it is in fact bias rather than incompetence

After what we've had to put up with over the last few years, with being allegedly defrauded twice after being hunted for a phantom tax bill, then triply demoted after finishing second, not to mention all the bile, hatred and mockery that we've had to put with, you've got to be a bit of a cunt to grudge us a 50-50 decision for a free kick going our way.

As a former referee too you have that wrong, there is nothing to say that the player cannot re enter the field until the game stops. The rule is that a player who is sent off the field due to injury, or with blood on them, is not allowed to return until the game has restarted from the original stoppage. Its always been that way. In the same incident he missed a Falkirk player leaving the pitch to get a water bottle from behind the goal as if to compound things.

The cheat (I normally baulk at calling referees that) in the middle yesterday had ample opportunity to wave Kiernan back on but chose not to (pettiness was a likely reason, or the colour of Robs shirt). If he doesn't understand the rules (I'm sure he knows them well enough) he should be sent back to junior football or banned from officiating again. None of the 3 were in any way competent and their inability to get the basics correct (I'll assume the assistants were just incompetent) is a damning indictment of the game in Scotland.
