johanhentze 14,086
Hearing Craig speak there on Rangers TV is VERY encouraging... going on about selection through physical ability is in the past at Murray Park (whatever you want to call it). Focus on technical ability... im greatly encouraged by what he had to say.. Germam model is what he is wanting to adopt!
OzGers 425
What a fantastic interview on rtv. Some highlights:- turned down Southampton academy director role to stick with rangers- looked at numerous models in Jan to adopt- chose german model, playing from back, pressure on ball, fast counter attack- emphasis on creating hungry players, ones that are desperate to play for rangers- banished the idea of players being "too small"- aiming for top 10 academy in EuropeOne of the youth players said:- play from back- players are looking to be creative- everyone out of their shell- footballing philosophy is a lot betterSeems he's been a positive appointment, now to build on it with a scouting department! CaptainDandy 834
Really excited by the stuff he was talking about, as a football coach myself everything he said is bang on the money. All teams strive to play the way that he described but it'll take a few years to have this type of philosophy evident throughout the youth setup. bluedart1952 1,349
Excellent interview, I think with Craig in charge of our youth academy its going to be a huge improvement on what's went on for quite a number of years, looking forward to seeing our future stars. now then forever 298
Could be one of Rangers best signings keeping hold of him if Southampton were after him for a director role in their youth academy. Southampton's is without a doubt one of the best in the UK. Hopefully, Craig can turn ours in to one too!
