Gaz52 11,837
Footballing wise we're a shambles, not got any big game players, no game changers and more important, no leadership.Aye, things might improve financially shortly but McCoist's legacy is going to live on, how hard was it to bring youngsters through, pay them a fair salary and build them up to be good footballers? Black, Shiels, Daly, Cribari, Peralta, Argygygyou (or whatever his name was), Simonsen, Foster, Smith, Miller.. Just to name a few. These signings have killed us big time and we will be spending another year in the championship due to the shitebags who pull on our jersey these days. We've finally started to see some changes in the squad but last night's selection with Law left wing instead of Templeton shows how clueless/stubborn these men are, the board haven't caused this situation, the management haveTerrified we die away like Leeds. If we do get back to the SPL, it's going to take 5 years minimum until we've got a side who can compete with Celtic, honestly it's just sickening what McCoist has done. BridgeIsBlue 66,595
Ah well we just need to have faith in our glorious "Rangers Men" to pull us through, spend money and get us out of this shite.Fucking depressing state of affairs,I honestly don't think I will ever look at Ally McCoist in the same light as I did before he became manager. If we do get back to the SPL, it's going to take 5 years minimum until we've got a side who can compete with Celtic, honestly it's just sickening what McCoist has done.Said the same on here over a year ago and was shouted down for being over-dramatic!We may be in the process of losing a huge chunk of a generation of young guys who would, automatically, have followed the Gers. Why would you turn up week in,week out to watch the shit on offer if you hadn't been doing it for years and the habit had been formed?I know we must grasp at any straws but all this talk about the EGM solving our ills is bull.We need 12+(?) players to replace the dross that will, hopefully,be punted at the end of the season.(that's in 4/5 months time!!)We need a whole new coaching team and the old ones paid off.We need a full Ibrox again(every week) but with confidence and trust issues this will be hard to achieve.I can see us still in the Championship next season(wouldn't be all bad?) but I can also see us being mid-table for a year or so when we do make it back to the PL and I'm not sure if the fans(esp. us older ones!) will be able to accept that scenario.IMO,we're nowhere near exiting these woods.Fuck,I'm depressed!! Ryan_1 1,136
Difference between us and the likes of Leeds, Forrest etc is down south the quality through the lower divisions is so vast. Here we play in a Scottish system that is shocking for the most part, a club as big as ours won't just fade away, not with our fan base, relatively large pulling power and even finances as daft as that sounds still trumps 99% of the teams in Scotland. We will back at the top of the game in this country one day, it's just going to take alot longer than most people imagined.
Drunk and disorderly. 14,321
The board aren't blameless in this. They are a shambles and have let the management team do what they want. They could have sacked them at any time but chose not to. They failed to set up a scouting network too. Just how many years does that take to do? OlegKuznetsov 10,816
This is far from solvable. We're pretty poor, but there are no good sides in Scotland. You could put together a 5-a-side team from RM members that would get into the top six of the top tier.I jest only slightly.Eight players would do it. Smile 26,600
If the right manager is brought in and we make a couple of decent signings it'll be much less than 5 years we need to catch celtic. They've regressed massively in the past few years.Agree they are pish and seem to be offloading good players and pretending the mediocre ones they bring in are superstars.I cant see if the new board comes in where they will get the funds to move us forward. Ibrox_Nights 429
As Ryan said, the Leeds scenario wont play out for us; even in our weakened state we are still paying the size of wages every other club in Scotland can only dream about, apart from the MM. Scottish football is dire, however, we have a huge fanbase and vastly greater resources (regardless how piss poorly they have been spent in the last few years) even compared to the Sheep etc.
nachothelegend 1,932
Coaching is required big style. We need a Technical Coach along with a tough Manager who can Train the Team and get in their faces.Rediculas situation for our Club a mess. More of the same is a vote for a pathetic board with absolutely no leadership qualities who are not fit for purpose and if 95% of Rangers fans being in agreement with me isn't enough for you then I despair.Another one who misses the point. No matter how bad the board is, or gets, it does not make kingco better. There is no relationship there. None. Not wanting king does not mean you are endorsing the board. So many are adopting the attitude anything is better and "lets get him in, we'll worry about the money later"We swore we would never do that again yet here we are welcoming another saviour without question. We can't buy players with hope, a new manager wont work for hope and we wont keep the doors open with hope.We will just have to worry about it later but worry wont do any of the above either. It will be too late.Between Ashley and King, they chased away the only guy with the will and means to take us forward. Theyve made sure nobody else is getting near.Once king runs out of money, I really dont see whete we go from there. We are toxic to investment and by then we will be loaded with debt.We wont see significant income for at least 3 years. Who is going to absorb those losses ?Ally has been a disaster. We dont even have a shell of a team at the moment after 3 years and a fortune spent.Hearts went bust, yet with a fraction of our resources, built a team that romped the league. All in, our recovery is going to take much longer than many think. No matter how bad the tims are, we are nowhere near them and wont be for years.im very sad to see where we've ended up and can't help thinking king is a temporary patch that wont last long and we wont start recovering again til hes gone.I may well be wrong, but I see little evidence he has the will or means it would take to move us forward.
