Ivanovic requests a transfer

Recommended Posts

Chelsea starlet Branislav Ivanovic has requested a transfer so that he can join Milan, according to the latest reports.

Both the Corriere dello Sport and Gazzetta dello Sport claim this morning that Ivanovic is eager for the move to San Siro.

He had been of interest to Juventus, but it is reported the offer from the Rossoneri convinced the 24-year-old, as he would become the future of the club’s ageing defence.

He marched into the Stamford Bridge headquarters on Friday and told general manager Peter Kenyon that he wishes to make the switch to Serie A.

Ivanovic is yet to make his Premier League debut despite joining Chelsea in January for £9m, so Phil Scolari has agreed to release him.

It remains to be seen whether Milan will offer to take the former Lokomotiv Moscow player on loan or in a permanent move.

Considering the recent £18m investment for Ronaldinho and their failure to qualify for the Champions League, money is tight for the reigning Club World Cup holders.

It is reported therefore that the Rossoneri will take Ivanovic on loan for £1.8m with an option to complete the transfer at the end of the season for £7.5m.

Should they fail to sign the Serb, the other option for Carlo Ancelotti’s side is another Brazilian reinforcement.

Alex Silva has impressed at San Paolo and would be available for around half Ivanovic’s price-tag.
