If you are interested in getting involved in or supporting a body to

ensure that fans' interests are taken into consideration by football's

rulers, with the ultimate goal of getting a supporter on the board of

every club in Scotland, then please read on.

The following email provides details of a Scottish Supporters Conference

that will be held in Edinburgh City Chambers this Friday. It's on

during the day, so you'll have to take some Annual Leave if you're

normally at work.

By attending, supporters can obtain information and contacts that will

help to set up a supporters trust as well as sending a clear message to

the influential people present that Scottish fans want a greater say in

the running of the game they have supported for so long.

Cheers,

Stuart

A one day football conference

Friday 14 April 2000 City Chambers, Edinburgh

HAVING A SAY? Supporter involvement in Scottish football.

A major scocer conference organised by the Centre for Scottish Public

Policy and the Scottish Independent Supporters Coalition in association

with the Scottish Local Governmetn Information Unit and sponsored by the

Scottish Co-operative Party and United for Change.

The aim of this conference is to provide a forum for debate on the

increasing demand by Scottish football supporters to gain greater influence

over the control and direction of their clubs and football in general.

The Football Task Force in England has advocated shareholdings held in a

trust arrangement on behalf of fans as one means of ensuring a greater

collective say. This has been endorsed by the Government, who have pledged

support for the creation of a new financial and legal model for the

structure of supporters' trust arrangements.

What does this mean in practice? Can and should the same arrangements be

applicable to Scotland? What should supporters do to pursue this? What

steps should be taken by local and national Government in Scotland? What

support can be achieved from the Scottish Parliament? What are the

implications for clubs in Scotland?

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Football club supporters, both as individuals and as members of official or

independent supporters' organisations

Football club directors

Representatives from national football authorities

Members of The Scottish Parliament

Local authority members and officers

Trade Union representatives

It was when supporters trusts were first being mooted

The line up is frightening

I just wondered if anyone from Rangers was involved at that early stage

Certainly looks like a gathering that no Bear would attend unless he had some mischief in mind..All innocent fun though. Gentle heckling and stink bombs only... :000000082:
