OlegKuznetsov 10,816
Given that we have an improved standard of opposition, including two recently relegated "big guns" from the top tier, is winning the league enough for people to say "Ally's had a decent season."?If not, what will it take to be deemed satisfactory and justify his position? Wearethepeople72 1,845
Nope. The Ramsdens is a must this year and I'm expecting to win either the League Cup or the Scottish Cup aswell.

STEPPS BOY 73,762
League and Petrofac cup bare minimum..We are still not good enough to win league/Scottish cup, sadly.
ORCHARD LOYAL 119
The league and one other cup is a reasonable expectation
ianb1547 3,767
I suspect winning the league, Scottish cup, Petrofac whatever, and 'the toss' in every fixture would not be enough for some. For me......I will take the league. That's the job for this season.
bombaybadboy08 15,660
The league is a must, I would accept not winning the Petrofac Cup if we win or get to the final of one of the more prestigious cups.I can see our squad being stretched to the max this season so it probably comes down to priorities, can we get into Europe if we win the Scottish? rangersross 6,530
If we don't also win the Challenge ("Petrofac") Cup this year, I'll be sorely disappointed.
ArchibaldLeitch 380
Petrofac cup bare minimum, i hope for at least semis in both cups, who knows luck of the draw we could win one.
Johnny Dangerously 7,562
No, but it will be the following season.
Bluepeter9 5,167
The league - that's the 'real' business anything else is a bonus.
jhunter 16
Nothe absolute minimum we should have been doing is the League and Ramsdens cup which we haven't achieved let alone in any sort of style.
rosco_g88 73
Absolute minimum of the league and Challenge Cup, no excuses.Would also be expecting decent runs in both Scottish & League Cups with the squad we have.
BLUEDIGNITY 33,638
Promotion is everything this season cups are well down the list of priorities, should've won the Ramsdens at least once last couple of seasons but didn't, so I don't expect McCoist to take any brave pills this season in any cup! Although to be fair he did serve his apprenticeship under Wattie specialising in cup games so maybe he'll prove me wrong !
WilliamFyfe 1,438
Nope. The Ramsdens is a must this year and I'm expecting to win either the League Cup or the Scottish Cup aswell. My views exactly. Ally has the second biggest budget in the country. He's got a team of SPL players. We should easily walk the league and 1:2 cups.
loyalfollower 1,543
Well I can't believe that some of us are demanding cup success. On paper and with our budget then yeah we should be getting to finals and winning but that's the nature of football- it just doesn't happen like that or else your man city's and Chelsea's Madrid etc would always win cups and leagues every year but its impossible. Let's not go down the aye but part time teams pish because by the law of averages not losing a game is extremely unlikely
kaiser1041 9,088
The league the petrofac cup the scottish cup and league cup.x factor and big brother or ally out.
cumnockbear 2,446
In all honesty Oleg, No. The league and Petrofac/Ramsdens is a must it will be a disaster if we don't win that, but we have the squad to win a quadruple so i expect us to be challenging for all honours. Bears 792
The league is the real necessity. It's arguably the most important league season in our history. It would be disappointing not to win the Petrofac Cup once out of our three attempts. (After the State Aid investigation that, in the interests of sporting integrity, demotes any club receiving unfair assistance from the State, a certain bunch could have more wins in this competition than us one day!)I would hope for a decent showing in the two big cups. If we go out (whenever) then only to teams that are playing well. And I hope to see us playing like we are ready for the last step up and not need major surgery on the team next June/July. TheMotor 2,208
I'd settle for the league and seeing us play some entertaining, attacking football in at least 50% of our games. That would be a huge step up on the last two seasons.I wouldn't trade the title for entertaining football but I would trade the cups.
Dutchy 1,200
The league is the main, number one priority. Anything else is just sweetie money, good if it were to happen, but I just want back in at the top table. So for me, that's the target.
rossDas 1,071
Achieving a consistent average of acceptable performances reflecting our squad strength is a must for me. I am less concerned about winning cups, but will be sorely disappointed if we do not at least give a good account of ourselves in those competitions. If we are to topple ceptic from their perch then we must rediscover the fighting spirit that won us three in a row under Walter Smith. When we went down to nine men against St Mirren I still believed we could win it; to have that confidence again.
bluenose48 951
The league is priority and the Petrofac cup we need to win as this will be our last chance to.I really would like one of the other two.
Ger77 742
Yes.A cup would be great but all i care about is winning the league and getting back to where we belong.
gmcf 34,086
No from me too. We must be firm favourites for the Petrofac Cup , as we have been for the two seasons previously. As much as it's pretty insignificant , what it does tell us is how equipped we are in dealing in cut throat situations instead of relying on ' averages ' over a season , where our resources give us a big advantage. If Ally wants to prove his doubters wrong , then this is a ' must ' . I don't , realistically expect to win the League or Scottish Cup . I think that may be a step too far at this stage , but nor do I expect to be beaten by a lower division team , nor half the premier league teams should the game be at Ibrox. As others have said though , the league is a priority , and there should be no excuses for failing in that , with the players we have at our disposal.
