Bring through young talented players and give the best away to Newcastle.

Sounds fantastic. :anguish:

Well we have lost our better players to lesser clubs in the past so it's very likely.

We were a stepping stone to English football long before admin came about so it's just going to get worse now.

I see your point but there is a slight difference, if it works out this way.

Its not like we need EPL class players to absolutely destroy every club in Scotland, this would be great business for us as long as it didnt mean NUFC getting a cheap deal on our players.

It would also give youths the incentive to sign for us. Come here, play great for a few years, win some trophies then off down to Newcastle. Good business if done correctly.

The only thing that would be worrying is that if Newcastle got our best players on the cheap, eg if Lewis went on to improve a fair bit and became a Davis type and then Newcastle could take him for buttons. Hopefully that wouldn’t be the case though.

No matter what we are going to find it hard to keep players when clubs with more cash/wages (EPL and a fair championship side) come in for them given the way Scottish football is at the moment. Newcastle have done a great deal of business in terms of brining in for cheap and selling for inflated prices so maybe that’s something we will look to replicate.

They all go down south anyway.

Yip.

I'd say just about every player in Scotland would jump at chance to play at Newcastle including our ones.

They might not have the history but they play at a much higher level in a vastly improved league offering crazy wages. It's a no brainer.

Even Championship sides take the better players from Scotland now

Yes, many come back not long after as well.

But, this could be different in having a direct link to Newcastle. Our best and brightest could find themselves shipped to Newcastle for nominal fees with the most valuable players being sold and Newcastle taking the majority of the profit.

Its a lot better than many or most players in Scotland can hope for. All we hear is players having a desire to play in England, if we have some deal with Newcastle then that's a route directly into the EPL, which would give players incentive to sign for us before the tarriers or other clubs. Tie that with the potential of European football every year it will give many more players a reason to consider signing for us.

The small club mentality is hoaching in this thread.

I think "Reality" is a better description than "Small club mentality" do you think we need players of Man City standards to win the SPL or compete in Europe? I dont. The fact is we can win leagues and get into CL for much cheaper than English clubs can, so if we can make a good profit at the same time and entice players to sign for us then whats the problem? "Feeder club" is a term many dont like but in reality every club in Scotland is a feeder club to England. Its not like some League 1 side feeding to the EPL, its a much poorer league selling players at a profit to a much richer league.

There is a reason why Newcastle have made a profit while other clubs are raking in more and more debt.
