I wonder if deep down the Germans weren't too unhappy at losing this with it being the 75th anniversary of the invasion of Poland and the beginning of WW2.

Perhaps they felt the weight of the hand of history on their shoulders and knew they would still top the group without these 3 points?

Most the players on the park won't have gave 2 shits about a war that was fought long before they were even born.

Win bonuses are enough incentive to not lose any game.

I take it the Germans were apologising for The Blitz when England beat them 5-1 in 2001 then?

I think it's more a subconscious thing ... as I said the guilt that every German probably still carries at turning countries like Poland into human zoos in the middle of last century is something we can't understand
