Broken bottle attacker is jailed for five years

Published on 18 October 2014

A MAN who left a football fan scarred in a broken bottle attack has been jailed for five years and three months.

Paul McCann launched the vicious assault on Caolan Fullerton, 18, who had travelled from Northern Ireland to Glasgow to watch Celtic play AC Milan in the Champions League.

The teeanger was making his way back to his hotel when McCann attacked him with the makeshift weapon in the Gallowgate.

A judge told McCann, 28, at the High Court in Edinburgh: "This was a thuggish, alcohol-fuelled assault on a young man who had come to Scotland to watch a football match and enjoy himself with family and friends."

Lord Boyd of Duncansby said: "The fact is, you inflicted very serious, life threatening injuries on this young man."

The judge said he accepted that McCann was remorseful.

Not sure though there is some Celtc connection:

"McCann had earlier admitted attacking Mr Fullerton with the broken bottle to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and to the danger of his life and attempting to murder him on November 27 last year.He was granted bail following a court appearance after the incident, with a special condition of a curfew on days that Celtic's first team played matches".

It's not how it works unfortunately as Taigs are rife in the media and will do everything to they can to hide anything bad about the club or its supporters. They'll probably try and spin that they're the victims here!

Your bang on and I read about this on the eventing times website but the daily record had nothing apart from a massive article trying to identify soccer casuals down at Derby, when we played them.

How can any journalist in this country look themselves in the mirror or have any fuckin self respect? Everyone knows what the headlines would read if this was an attack near Ibrox after a Rangers game.
