bluenose_72 198
Reports from Buenos Aires suggest that Napoli legend Diego Maradona could resign as Argentina Coach just two weeks after his appointment. Maradona fended off strong competition to earn the post after the departure of Alfio Basile on October 29. The former calcio superstar was due to start his spell with the Albicelestes with a friendly against Scotland next Wednesday before taking complete control next month. According to media sources in Argentina, Maradona had a heated row with AFA President Julio Grandona during a meeting that was called to name an assistant Coach. Maradona reportedly demanded that Oscar Ruggeri and Alejandro Mancuso be appointed, while Grandona wants Jose Luis Brown and Sergio Batista. It is believed that the 48-year-old left Buenos Aires having issued an ultimatum that he will quit unless he gets his way.

Coopermania 1
I think hiring him in the first place was something of a joke. I agree. His brain will be wasted from years of drug abuse.
TMWWBK 0
In a way it was like england hiring Gazza to take over from Capello. Despite his antics in recent years, Maradona is still seen as a cast-iron icon in Argentina. His portrayal over there is the total antithesis of what it is over here. I think hiring him in the first place was something of a joke. Does he even have any managerial experience? He had two rather poor spells at Textil Mandiyu and then Racing Club. He's tried to surrounded himself in experience, but i wouldnt be surprised if that article turned out to be correct. Grandona and Maradona have never seen eye to eye really. KazzyTI 267
He won't retire, this is a typical Maradona trick. He's done this with various manager, chairmen and boards across the years especially Napoli. Also, he's too proud to leave his country behind. He will go nowhere.
