Recommended Posts

Scott Gallacher is joining Forfar Athletic on loan for the remainder of this year, good chance for him to get some first team football.

FORFAR Athletic have secured the services of a young goalkeeper on loan until the end of the year as they prepare for the opening pre-season on Thursday evening.

He is twenty-year-old Scott Gallacher, who is on the books of Glasgow Rangers, but who will be at Station Park on a temporary transfer until December 31.

The keeper is expected to go straight into the team on Thursday evening when premier league Motherwell visit Station Park as they prepare for an early start to their Europa League action.

Forfar borrow keeper Scott Gallacher from Rangers

Forfar Athletic have taken Rangers goalkeeper Scott Gallacher on loan until the end of the year.

The 20-year-old played eight games on loan at Cowdenbeath in 2008 and featured on the bench for the Ibrox club on the last day of last season.

Gallacher was a key member of the Rangers Under-19 side that won league and cup doubles in 2006/07 and 2007/08.

Forfar manager Dick Campbell is preparing for life in Division Two having been promoted via the play-offs.

he is making his Debut tongiht also,

YOUNG Rangers keeper Scott Gallacher will make his debut for Forfar tonight having moved to the Angus club on loan for the first half of the new season.

Gallacher was effectively third choice behind Allan McGregor and Neil Alexander last season but due to the scrapping of the SPL Reserve League his playing opportunities were limited.

Rangers have decided that it will be better for the keeper to take part in regular competitive football so that when he returns to Murray Park he will have more experience.

And Gallacher will go straight into action for Forfar tonight when the Second Division side meet Motherwell in a friendly at Station Park.

His temporary departure means that Grant Adam - brother of former Ranger Charlie - will move up the pecking order to become the third choice keeper.

Craig Mulholland from the Rangers Youth Department said: "Scott was stifled a little bit last season by a lack of matches so we felt it was better for him to go out on loan.

"He will get good experience from playing competitive football in front of a crowd every week and that will stand him in good stead.

"He is due to be on loan with Forfar until the turn of the year but this may be extended to the full season if it suits all parties."
