  1. If Shiels is ok I'd stick with the same line-up as the other night, with Jig up top and Hutton in the middle obviously. If Shiels is touch and go I probably wouldn't risk him and go with McKay instead. I have a mate from Forres (doesn't still live there though) and he knows a few of the boys in the team, majority big Rangers fans apparently.
  2. As far as I remember Gattuso couldn't speak any English when he joined us as a fresh faced 19-year old, and then we bought a young Italian left back called Luigi Riccio who was apparently wee Rino's mate. I remember wondering at the time if that was the only reason we signed him, so the guy had a friend he could talk to!
  3. Eh...Beattie grew up a Rangers fan and played for us before them! I would have been quite happy to take him actually and think he could have been a decent signing for the next few years, but as soon as he stalled and seemed to be wanting to negotiate some more for himself (still probably less than he'd be getting elsewhere tbf) there was no point taking it any further. Put a deal on the table and let the player take it or leave it, that's what we have to do just now. We still have some great appeal to attract decent players despite playing in the division 3, and it's hardly top class players we need so if anyone wants to play hardball, well see ya later there are plenty more for us to choose from.
  4. Absolutely cracking video! Brought a tear to my eye
  5. I just can't get my head around why in this day and age, where our understanding of ourselves, the planet and everything in it including the most fundamental thing of all, energy, has been increasing at an alarmingly fast rate, that people would still place just as much credence in a wide-spread opinion formed hundreds and hundreds of years ago! :S I mean really, it's almost comparible to people still insisting that the age-old belief that the Earth is flat! It's easy to see why this was accepted as fact in those days, just as easy as understanding why the idea of a god or gods was accepted without question - but knowing what we know now and with how much we have developed our understanding of almost EVERYTHING since then?! Come on peeps. Question - when some dickhead rapes and murders a bunch of people and claims God spoke to him and told him to do it, do "believers" believe his claim or just think that he is a fucking nutcase? Why would you doubt him if you believe it is entirely plausible that God could have spoken to him? And don't say God would never tell someone to commit such an astrocity, cos they happen all the fucking time and apparently when they do they are all part of his plan, so why wouldn't he?
  6. 3-5-2 certainly has it's place for some games depending who is available and who we are lining up against, but play it for a full season and you will see plenty games it doesn't work nearly as well as it did tonight, though it did work fucking fantastically tonight. There can be several problems some of which have already been mentioned - unless the full backs are fit as fuck and on their game, the central defensive 3 can be dragged about something terrible and a lot of space left for the opposition to exploit. On the other hand if the full backs are being pushed back and are focusing properly on their defensive duties it can become a 5-3-2 and easy to get overrun further up the pitch. EXCELLENT option for us to have up our sleeve and trust Ally to plan when best to use it just like tonight, but I definitely wouldn't want to see us lining up every game that way. Saying that, the personel we have just now doesn't really suit a flat 4-4-2 as our strongest formation either tbh, and I tend to think a 4-3-3 would be our best bet for the majority of games (assuming we can hold onto any of our current players). Imagine a midfield 3 of McCabe, Ness and Davis, with Naismith and Aluko on either side supporting a lone striker...tasty! Edu and Little kicking about too who can both slot in, and even Kerkar has been doing well too recently. True enough that Aluko is at his most dangerous further inside, but he was doing very well even before we moved him in from the wing for the Old Firm game. I really feel we have quite a few options middle to front just now (with the exception of a proper good striker), and have the tools to switch up our tactics as and when it's needed. Makes it all the more gutting what has happened to us off the field this season, as even with Naismiths injury which hit us extremely hard, I still reckon we'd have taken this league this season had it not been for so much other shit occupying everyones minds.
  7. I expect Rangers to act with Rangers class, and sacking Ally McCoist one season into his managerial career in which he has had the most difficult circumstances to deal with of ANY manager in our great history, when he has MORE than earned a decent shot with his career for us as a player and the obvious passion he exudes for our club and the dignity he carries himself with representing our club, having been DESPARATE for the chance to manage us and biding his time over a number of seasons until he was given the opportunity, is not Rangers class for me. So he hasn't found his feet in the hotseat yet....who gives a fuck! We have bigger things to worry about at this time and Ally is someone I'm sure we can all agree has the best interests of the club very close to his heart and will do everything in his power to take us through this and come out stronger in time. You'd rather have some 2nd rate foreign manager who doesn't give a shit would you??! Fuck off. Apparently some folk already know that Ally will never be a successfuil manager, just doesn't have it in him. Bollocks. Most of the Rangers support said the same about him as a player, if they'd had their way he would never have gone on to become the utter LEGEND that he is. Every manager deserves more than a single season to make their mark other than in exceptional circumstances - let alone someone who is in their first season a a manager, let alone someone having to deal with the amount of shit surrounding our club OFF the field at this time, let alone Ally McCoist who has earned himself getting more of a chance than one fucking season. If Rangers sack McCoist at the end of this season the for me that will rip the fucking heart out of the way our fine club carries itself even more than the Administration fiasco. I'll tell you one thing, if McCoist got sacked and we went into liquidation and reformed as a "new" Rangers, there's not a fucking chance I would support them - that would not be MY club any more, but a new club without the same history, morals, principles, togetherness and class of the Rangers I know and love. We are Rangers and we look after our own. I mean is that really the way you want to see Rangers treat it's LEGENDS??!! No-one deserves a free pass if they aren't doing their job and the club is suffering without much chance of turning it round, but McCoist is far from that point just now. He has proven beyond reasonable doubt to have true Rangers class, it's a pity so many of our support don't have Rangers class themselves.
  8. Can't really argue with anything you said. But for me one of the most important things is that they are given the chance to do just this, and it's unlikely to happen this season with too much else going on. Ally has made mistakes and not always made the best decisions (neither did Smith btw and plenty fans were calling for his head for the last few seasons too which would have likely cost us what we did win), and he DOES need to learn and adapt and make use of the experience he is now getting full exposure to, and at Rangers of course he needs to do it fast. But he hasn't even been given a chance yet, not a proper one. And he more than deserves it.

  10. LOADS of tickets still available for this! Really hope it's a sell-out and an amazing atmosphere, think it could really help raise our spirits and also with all the talk of raising funds for the club well here's one easy opportunity already! Not all of it will go to the club of course but hell you get to see the likes of Gazza and Laudrup, Numan, Albertz, Mols, Coisty & Hately, Big Amo and Goram in action again, led out by King Richard and of course Walter Smith back in the dugout. And will even be good to see some of the Milan legends like Rijkaard, Maldini, Boban and Baresi - should be entertaining enough! I'd pay £50 for a ticket for this nae danger let alone only £12! Really can't wait, not a lot to look forward to at this time and this is just the thing to take the mind off things, bring back some great memories and enjoy a good night of football Maybe even see if a few of them would come back and play for free - bet Laudrup could still tear the league up!
  11. My heart says sure but my head says I'm not sure. For one thinkg about how many disagreements there are on this forum in almost every thread - there are Rangers fans out there who I would trust even less than Craig Whyte, not because they don't WANT the best but because there are so many different opinions on what the best mught be or more importantly how to go about achieving it. If there is some concrete evidence to suggest that an idea like this one would be significantly better for our club than the likes of Craig Whyte at this time then I am all for it - I won't be jumping on the media-driven bandwagon though and am assuming nothing nor pandering to speculation in any way if I can help it, no matter how much the heart says I should. Unfortunately with the current state of affairs I think the head, or heads that are filled with more knowledge of how to run/drive/rescue a BUSINESS, needs to rule the heart in some ways. Dunno, I'm not against this idea but I think it is one that will get a lot of support purely because the notion of having us fans in charge is an automatically appealing one, but is it REALLY the best one. Maybe, I just need more convincing than my heart telling me hey I'D get to have my say too and I know I want the best for the club so what can go wrong.... Hope this makes sense am a bit pished
  12.  Excellent post, repped, get it stickied. :21: :21:
  13. Close all other threads on the forum and link them all back to this one - nail on the head by the OP, fully deserved rep given. Bottom line is it makes absolutely no difference who is to blame whatsoever. Decisions are being made now and will be made over the next months that have NOTHING to do with football and that is how it is going to have to be. Most of the details of these decisions and the ins and outs are going to be hard to fully understand by most of us, and speculation does no-one any good. What is going to happen to Rangers as a business is going to happen regardless of what we think, we are powerless and damn you can feel it There is one thing we can do though. We can PROVE why we think we are among the best fans in the world - we are far from the only support who would venture to claim such a thing, so what makes any one set of fans better than the next? Well for one we can unite and stand strong in the face of defeat and when EVERYTHING is going against us, defiant and proud. We are hitting the lowest point in our clubs grand history, and you know what? I can't think of many other people I would rather have to lead our team than Ally McCoist. His first season in full managemet was always going to be a tough and steep learning curve at the best of times....let alone the worst of times. The guy has a thankless task but he would bleed blood for our cause and you would be hard pushed to find a bigger Rangers man who will give everything he has got to the cause and stand up and act in true Rangers fashion - showing pride, dignity and respect and of course, No Surrender. Peoples perception of his managerial ability should be put aside as unimportant in this time, we have got a guy who fully deserves his legendary status at our club and actually CARES. He will be hurting as much as the rest of us. He is learning the role in the most difficult of circumstances imaginable, so let's ease the burden by showing that we will all stand together and show our full support to him and the players who are able and willing to stay and keep fighting til the bitter end in the loudest and proudest fashion possible. :21: WE ARE THE PEOPLE!!! :21:
  14. I genuinely believe McMillan is the best right back we have at the club....not that that's huge praise in itself tbh. I do think he's a decent player and wish we could see him get a run of 10 games or so before the end of the season, but unfortunately doesn't look like happening and he will be off soon. Ness I really hope gets over his injury problems too, if he can he will be a HUGE player for us that's for sure. Unless his injuries continue and stint his progress he'll be a Premiership quality player before too long.
  15. Much as I'd like to have him Morrison has publicly stated that although he has a soft spot for Rangers he isn't interested in leaving the Premiership for a good few years yet. No chance with that one. Would love to see us get Dorrans in, though ideally I'd prefer us to hold onto Jelavic at the same time! Doesn't seem that we'll be able to do that, but if Jelavic leaves we need to bring in 2 good strikers and I'm rather sceptical about that as well unfortunately.
