whats wild about it, Boyd was a very average footballer but scored barrow loads of goals, could never be trusted to do it on the big stage though. Dessers is a very average footballer whos scored a decent haul of goals so far and its only January still. Boyd was better granted but their trade is scoring goals and little else.

After Liverpool had a goal wrongly chalked off at Spurs earlier in the season, the FA let the world hear a recording from the VAR studio, even though it betrayed a woeful breakdown in communications with the on-field officials. That’s what we need here too — because, without it, what are we supposed to do except guess and speculate? For instance, my feeling is that Collum realised too late that he’d got it wrong on the handball and threw the offside screenshot out there to cover his tracks. If that’s miles off, someone needs to say so and I’ll happily apologise. But it’s all so Secret Squirrel, with players, coaches, broadcasters, a stadium full of punters and a worldwide armchair audience left baffled by the amateurish nonsense of it all. And let’s not forget that referee Walsh himself is part of the baffled and fuming masses, that he too was kept in the dark over something so pivotal to the outcome of a huge derby match and maybe even the title race itself. Like so many whistlers game after game, week after week, he was left standing around like a spare you-know-what at a wedding while control was taken out of their hands by someone sitting in an industrial estate miles away. Once more, all that the man in the middle can do is shrug apologetically while players demand to know what’s going on and supporters howl and scream and boo. And the rest of us are all thinking the same thing: Why ISN’T he across at the monitor, helping get such a big decision right? How CAN this decision be final if he’s denied a part in making it? Sadly, this is the issue with VAR that we’re left wrestling with every single week.

I said similar in the match thread last night, back when Andy Webster was injured long term and he tried to make comeback after comeback, he shat it each time feeling phantom pains and niggles, turned out to be either anxiety about playing for us or about injuring himself again but he went on to play plenty games after leaving us. It could all be psychological with Roofe too.

After so many managers who spoke a lot of pish since Walter (and I include Gerrard in that) its so refreshing to listen to him, I could honestly listen to him all day, hes got a calming influence in his voice but has that look and sound of someone who doesnt suffer fools. Proper manager at last.

Big Phil to Sterling

James Tavernier is a club legend wether some people think so or not, his stats are up there with the very best fullbacks in world football and no I'm not saying hes anywhere near as good a defender as the worlds best fullbacks but we certainly wont appreciate what we have had until hes gone.

Love seeing the new guys like Butland, Sima, Sterling winning a trophy with us, they might go on to bigger things but they will never play for a better club.
